Service Technician / Agricultural Machinery Engineer - Invercargill, New Zealand - $40.00 –$45.00 per Hour

Start Date: Seasonal Contract (Approx. 6 Months) - October 2026 onwards

The Job:
We are working on behalf of a leading agricultural machinery service business in New Zealand to recruit experienced Service Technicians to support increased seasonal demand.
This is an excellent opportunity for skilled agricultural machinery engineers and diesel mechanics looking for a varied role combining workshop and field based service work. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining a wide range of agricultural machinery while delivering exceptional customer service to farming clients. Working across both workshop and on farm environments, you will carry out fault finding, repairs, preventative maintenance and breakdown support, ensuring machinery remains operational during critical farming periods. You will represent the business professionally on customer sites and work closely with customers and colleagues to maintain the company's reputation for quality workmanship and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, service, repair and maintain a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment
- Carry out mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault finding activities
- Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
- Respond to machinery breakdowns and provide effective on site support to farming customers
- Complete workshop based repairs and field service work as required
- Accurately record work completed and maintain service documentation
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company standards
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through professional service delivery
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and equipment uptime

The Company:

Our client is a well established agricultural machinery service provider supporting farming businesses across a major agricultural region of New Zealand. Specialising in the maintenance and repair of modern agricultural equipment, they have built a strong reputation for quality service, technical expertise and customer support.

The Candidate:
- Qualified Agricultural Machinery Technician, Service Technician, Diesel Mechanic or similar engineering professional
- Previous experience servicing, repairing and maintaining agricultural machinery and equipment
- Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Experience working on tractors, harvesters, cultivation equipment or other agricultural machinery desirable
- Previous field service experience advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality workmanship
- Customer focused approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Full driving licence required
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak seasonal periods when required

The Package:
- Salary $40.00–$45.00 per hour DOE
- Seasonal contract of approximately 6 months
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with additional hours available during peak periods
- Company service vehicle provided

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
