MBIE is seeking a dedicated Investigator to join our team and play a key role in ensuring compliance with New Zealand tenancy legislation. As an Investigator, you will bring your investigative expertise and business understanding to work collaboratively with your manager and colleagues. You will be responsible for promoting compliance, investigating alleged breaches, and recommending appropriate courses of action to achieve fair and lawful outcomes. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required * Experience planning and undertaking investigation and enforcement activities. * Strong knowledge of modern investigative methodologies and practices. * Understanding of New Zealand's government and constitutional environment. * Sound knowledge of administrative law and the principles of natural justice and procedural fairness. * Experience applying the principles of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act. * Strong information gathering, research, analytical, and decision-making skills. * Experience assessing risk and planning operational activities. * Effective interviewing and tactical communication skills, including in confrontational situations. * Excellent written communication and report-writing abilities. * The ability to exercise sound judgement while remaining objective and impartial. * A demonstrated commitment to treating people with dignity, respect, and humanity. * The ability to build effective working relationships with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. * Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing team. * Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
