Step into a role where your skills help keep one of New Zealand’s most unique tourism destinations operating at its best.

Tekapo Springs & Stargazing is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to join the team — someone hands-on, reliable, and experienced in maintaining facilities in a fast-paced visitor environment.

About the Role

This is a varied, practical role responsible for maintaining the safety, presentation, and performance of facilities, plant, and equipment across the Tekapo Springs site.

You’ll work closely with the Maintenance Manager and wider team to ensure the property operates smoothly and efficiently, while consistently delivering a high-quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing planned and preventative maintenance to minimise downtime

  • Supporting the upkeep of pools, buildings, plant, and infrastructure

  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for guests

  • Operating and caring for maintenance equipment, machinery, and vehicles

  • Supporting contractors and assisting with maintenance projects

  • Contributing to health & safety practices and hazard management

Seasonal & Specialist Tasks

Depending on the time of year, you may also be involved in:

  • Snow grooming and snow-making activities

  • Ice rink resurfacing (Zamboni operation!)

  • Ice and snow clearing to ensure safe access across the site

About You

We’re looking for someone well-versed in the tourism or visitor attractions sector, ideally with exposure to aquatic, snow, or ice-based facilities.

You will bring:

  • 2–3 years’ experience in maintenance, facilities, or plant operations

  • Practical, hands-on skills across a range of tools and equipment

  • A strong commitment to health & safety

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • A proactive, problem-solving approach

  • Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster and respond to callouts when required

Required:

  • Full driver's licence

  • Wheels, Tracks and Rollers and/or Forks endorsement

Desirable:

  • Experience in pools, snow, or ice rink environments

  • Trade-based or relevant technical skills

Why Join Tekapo Springs?

  • Work in a unique tourism environment in the Mackenzie Region

  • Enjoy variety across seasons and departments

  • Be part of a team focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement

  • Contribute to an experience enjoyed by visitors from around the world

If you’re an experienced maintenance professional from the tourism sector ready for your next opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note - applicants must have NZ work rights to be considered for this role.
