Systems Engineer - CONTRACT

A global name in aged care, this organisation moves mountains for its clients who live in their villages. Being a leader in the space, you will get exposed to a wide range of industry specific technology alongside the classic IT Infrastructure repertoire you already know. In New Zealand, the organisation have over 50 care homes & villages throughout the country however you will be based in the Auckland office.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Operations & Support

• Proactively monitor infrastructure, networks, and systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, and reliability, identifying and addressing potential issues before impact.
• Execute system backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and adherence to business continuity requirements.
• Maintain and enforce robust security controls to safeguard business systems, customer data, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with Cyber Security teams to monitor environments, detect potential intrusions, and uphold agreed security standards.
• Provide Level 2 support across the environment, including incident investigation, troubleshooting, and managing escalations with third-party vendors.

Platform & Infrastructure Maintenance

• Administer and maintain SCCM, including software deployments, patching, configuration management, and reporting.
• Manage Veeam backup solutions, including policies, schedules, storage, and retention to ensure reliable data protection.
• Oversee Microsoft Intune (MAM/MDM) configurations and policies to support secure device management.
• Support and maintain Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 (O365) services and resources.
• Conduct ongoing performance tuning, system upgrades, patching, and capacity/resource optimisation.
• Support and maintain LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi network environments.

Environment & Technology Scope

• Support core infrastructure including servers, storage, and platform services.
• Administer identity services across Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Manage network technologies including SD-WAN, LAN, and wireless environments.
• Support cloud and productivity platforms, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Maintain data communications, including internet connectivity, WAN links, and VPN services.
• Oversee end-user environments, including client devices and mobile platforms.

Governance, Risk & Security

• Adhere to and support change management processes to ensure controlled and compliant system updates.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues across the IT environment.
• Ensure robust backup and business continuity practices, including redundancy, backup validation, and recovery testing.
• Maintain strong cyber security practices, including system hardening, firewall management, anti-virus protection, and data integrity controls.

Skills & Experience

• Prior experience in a similar, technical role
• Expert proficiency with VMWare, Azure, SCCM and M365
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work under pressure and modify tempo to suit different situations
• Confident working autonomously

This role is hybrid with work from home available on Fridays. Immediate start required.
