Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

As Programme Administrator – Māori Medium and Māori Education, you will play a key role in supporting Māori students throughout their educational journey, from initial enquiry through to graduation. Working closely with staff, students and external education partners, you will ensure the smooth delivery of programme administration and student support services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating recruitment, enrolment, cross-crediting, mentoring, completion and graduation processes for Māori students.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Kōhanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori and Wharekura to support student pathways and programme growth.
  • Supporting the coordination of professional experience placements in Māori medium educational settings.
  • Managing programme administration, student records, documentation, databases and event coordination.
  • Providing high-quality administrative, advisory and pastoral support to students and academic staff.

This is a part time role for 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE), where the hours and days of work can be negotiated, based on our Hillcrest Campus. Salary will be in the range of $73,235 to $87,024 per year pro rata which means between $36,617 and $43,512 based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.

You are a highly organised and relationship-focused administrator who is passionate about supporting Māori educational success. You enjoy working with students, whānau, schools and community partners and are committed to providing excellent service and support.

You will bring:

  • Proficiency in te reo Māori and excellent written and verbal communication skills in both te reo Māori and English.
  • Experience in administration, coordination or student support, with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, Kōhanga Reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori and Wharekura.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple priorities. A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an understanding of Māori and Pacific cultures.
