Full Time Chef
RAO Investments Pty Ltd ATF The Rao Family Trust trading as Nardee Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting authentic Indian cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, kitchen operations, and food safety.
Location: Warrandyte, VIC 3113
Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum + Superannuation
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Plan menus in consultation with management, taking into consideration customer preferences, seasonal availability, and business requirements.
- Estimate food and labour costs and assist in managing kitchen budgets and food costs.
- Prepare, season, cook, and present a wide range of authentic Indian dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction.
- Supervise, train, and provide guidance to cooks and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Monitor stock levels, order food supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients to minimise waste.
- Develop and introduce new menu items and seasonal specials to enhance the restaurant's offerings.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Standards, hygiene requirements, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
- Coordinate kitchen operations during service to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently.
- Inspect kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and safe operation.
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related field OR equivalent industry experience.
- Relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine, food preparation techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and time management skills.
- Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
