Infrastructure Procurement Director
Lead NZTA’s infrastructure procurement function across one of New Zealand’s most significant infrastructure investment programmes.

This is a senior role leading NZTA’s infrastructure procurement function at a critical time for the national land transport capital programme. As Infrastructure Procurement Director, you will set the direction for strategic procurement, sourcing and supplier management across infrastructure projects and programmes, helping ensure investment proposals are commercially sound, well planned and aligned to government expectations.
Reporting to the National Manager Commercial Delivery and leading a sizeable team, you will shape portfolio, programme and project-level strategies that improve timeliness, delivery confidence and value for money across a $10B+ programme. You’ll also work with senior leaders, central agencies, suppliers and industry partners to strengthen procurement capability, supplier intelligence and market engagement.

We’re looking for a senior procurement leader who brings:
Extensive experience of current procurement best practice in New Zealand and internationally, with experience applying best practice procurement approaches.
Proven infrastructure sector experience and strong understanding of the infrastructure planning, procurement and delivery lifecycle.
Proven procurement leadership experience in commercially complex environments, preferably with a background in transport infrastructure.
Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify, conceptualise and navigate strategic commercial opportunities.
Deep understanding of government procurement and assurance requirements, including financial processes, budget and contract management.
Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
You'll demonstrate a willingness to understand and engage with Te Ao Māori, support NZTA's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and contribute to an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives strengthen decision-making.
