Responsibilities- Maintain global and/or regional responsibility for a strategic and/or high‑value commodity or group of commodities, for price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, terms, and conditions.
- Develop and implement a procurement strategy for the commodities managed, including technology direction, supplier analysis, development and selection, and pricing strategy.
- Act as the primary interface with Celestica’s suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation, establishing the business framework for transactions, performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs.
- Source all products and services, maintaining continuity of supply while delivering the lowest cost component or service solution.
- Provide global sites direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management.
- Lead negotiations for commodities managed, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presenting consistent messages to suppliers.
- Frequent interaction and negotiation with senior executives of industry‑leading multinational companies.
- Manage the Global Commodity Negotiation process ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing accuracy.
- Manage data flow for pricing fluctuations in the market and maintain analytical tools, including development and maintenance of Commodity Management systems applications.
- Conduct strategic analysis on pricing, market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts and long‑term agreements.
- Act as site liaison to manage critical shortages, develop strategies on constrained commodities and represent the site for related system changes that broadly affect purchasing execution.
- Drive process improvement, lead development of IT tools for the group, define business processes and implement new tools/processes.
- Perform bid activity for sensitive/high‑visibility complex bids.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of Commodity Management experience; experience managing electronics components is an advantage.
- Ability to manage up to 250–300 suppliers.
- Extensive knowledge of marketplace conditions for a broad range of strategic commodities, including industry pricing, technology, and supply/demand trends.
- Working knowledge of global supply chain practices.
- Strong knowledge of basic computer applications and ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this function, including ERP and office systems.
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of negotiation practices/methodology for electronics commodities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy under tight time deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate, prioritize and work a variety of tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion.
