Team Leader - Stewarding - Part time

(Please note that you must already have work rights in New Zealand to be considered for this role)

We are looking for a hands-on and motivated part-time Stewarding Team Leader to join our Stewarding team. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager, you will assist in leading the Stewarding team and help ensure our kitchens, food preparation areas and back-of-house spaces remain clean, safe and operating efficiently. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong stewarding or kitchen experience who is ready to take the next step into a leadership role within a busy luxury hotel.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading the Stewarding team across a range of shifts, including graveyard shifts
  • Allocating daily tasks and ensuring all work is completed efficiently
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen and back-of-house areas
  • Ensuring compliance with Food Hygiene Regulations, HACCP and Health and Safety requirements
  • Overseeing the correct cleaning of kitchen equipment, crockery, glassware, cutlery and cookware
  • Monitoring the use, storage and maintenance of stewarding equipment
  • Ensuring hazardous chemicals and materials are stored and handled safely
  • Coordinating the removal of rubbish, wet waste and accumulated waste
  • Completing daily cleaning schedules and checklists
  • Training and supporting colleagues so they can perform their duties safely and effectively
  • Conducting regular team briefings and keeping colleagues informed
  • Supporting the hotel’s sustainability and waste-management initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in stewarding, kitchen operations or a similar environment
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or team-leading experience
  • Strong knowledge of hygiene, food safety and HACCP requirements
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills
  • The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a busy environment
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • The ability to motivate, coach and develop others
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and overnight shifts
  • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
