Senior Business Analyst| Kaitātari Pahiki Matua 2 x Fixed Term/Secondment opportunities till June 2027 The role | Te tūnga    Play a key role in the data development and delivery as part of our Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) project, here at Stats NZ. The IDI is a world first in leading the integration of datasets to link information from key Government agencies, surveys and NGO’s, to translate into better social outcomes for all New Zealanders. More information on the project can be found in the link below; Integrated Data Infrastructure | Stats NZ We have two newly created fixed term opportunities till June 2027 for passionate and driven Senior Business Analysts to assist in driving forward the delivery of our innovative IDI programme of work. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team helping to undertake process re-design, including the gathering of functional and non-functional requirements to identify improvements. You will need to be comfortable with data and more importantly be able leverage insights from business analysis to identify, articulate, and realise business outcomes envisaged by the project Business Case. Crucial to your success will be your ability to identify areas of development to strengthen best practice to build knowledge and capability across the IDI and the wider team. The scope of this role includes: * Lead the collection, analysis and dissemination of detailed business information, ensuring outputs are accessible, accurate, and user-friendly. * Contribute to project planning providing expert advice on business analysis activities, required artefacts, effort estimates and progress tracking. * Support the effective management of project schedules, against resource utilisation. * Engage with diverse business groups to identify business functions and capabilities to support strategic project outcomes. * Engage effectively with business and technical stakeholders to produce clear, plain-language and visual documentation. * Apply service design methodologies to understand end-user needs, from customer journey mapping through to future-state processes and capability requirements. * Produce detailed functional and non-functional requirements, including user stories, to support transitional and future-state business processes and capabilities. * Provide practical guidance on the scope and potential implications and risk, facilitating informed decision-making. * Ensure all analysis and solution designs align with Stats NZ confidentiality, privacy, security, and data governance requirements. The right individual will bring a ‘systems mindset’ to see where the business drivers and processes are, while being an influential conduit between the business and the project. What you will bring to the role: * Previous experience within technology projects and procurement processes and ideally a recognised Business Analysis certification. * Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities with a willingness to share knowledge and expertise. * The ability to prioritise and actively manage multiple work streams within tight time and deliverable constraints. * A conceptual thinker who possesses excellent judgement and sound decision-making skills finding creative ways to address challenges and remove roadblocks. * Experience in specifying business requirements from different user groups to a professional standard for system developers and/or solution providers to design against * A high degree of awareness of a range of technologies and their practical applications in supporting business requirements. * Exemplary written and oral communication skills able to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level and handle ambiguity with ease. * A high degree of resilience coupled with a responsive proactive and pragmatic approach to your work. * Practical experience in agile delivery, identifying the best agile processes for projects and measuring the success of outcomes.
