About the company

At Fora, we’re reimagining what the workplace can be.

We create inspiring, design‑led spaces that blend hospitality, community, and wellbeing—so people can work productively, creatively, and happily.

From our first London workspace over 20 years ago, we’ve grown to 60+ locations across the UK supporting 30,000+ members and partnering with trailblazing brands like Ocado, The British Fashion Council, and Pangaia.

Backed by The Office Group, Blackstone, and Brockton Capital, we’re growing fast and pioneering conscious design, sustainable construction, and workspaces that empower people to work in their own unique way.

At Fora, we’re not just shaping workplaces—
we’re shaping the future of work.

We’re looking for someone who can take full ownership of collections across a complex, fast-paced customer book—protecting cash, reducing aged debt, and building strong, commercial relationships with our clients.

As our finance function continues to evolve—with automation and AI transforming how we work—you’ll move beyond routine tasks and into the areas that really matter: complex cases, judgement-led decisions, and continuous improvement.

The Role

This role is 4 days in the office and 1 day WFA.

You'll sit at the heart of our Finance team, leading Credit Control across a multi-site portfolio while supporting the ongoing development of the function. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational oversight with reporting, stakeholder management, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

The role is about more than chasing debt—you'll be:

  • Leading and developing a small Credit Control team
  • Owning month-end Credit Control activities and investor reporting
  • Managing escalations, complex accounts, and collection risk
  • Partnering with Finance, Sales, Operations, Billing, and Legal teams
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and automation

Key Responsibilities

Cash & Collections Ownership

  • Proactively manage overdue balances across the customer book
  • Build strong customer relationships while ensuring cash is protected
  • Handle escalations, payment plans, and complex accounts with confidence and sound judgement
  • Support collection strategy, delinquency management, and risk mitigation across the portfolio
  • Work closely with Legal on collection matters and compliance requirements

Reporting & Insight

  • Own and enhance weekly debt and collections reporting
  • Prepare monthly debt packs and reporting for investors
  • Translate trends (aged debt, DSO, delinquency) into clear, actionable insights
  • Provide regular updates to Finance leadership on performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Track team performance against agreed KPIs and objectives

Process & Performance

  • Manage the Credit Control cycle and escalation processes
  • Oversee cash allocation and reconciliation (bank + receipts)
  • Partner with Sales, Building Managers, Billing, and Finance teams to ensure smooth customer lifecycle management
  • Drive improvements in process, efficiency, and automation
  • Support wider finance transformation initiatives and adoption of new ways of working

Risk & Governance

  • Manage failed Direct Debits, deposit top-ups, and account risk
  • Issue suspensions, manage terminations, and support legal escalations where required
  • Identify collection and operational risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Handle sensitive client situations with professionalism and commercial judgement
  • Ensure compliance with policies, controls, and collection procedures

Leadership & Team Development

  • Line manage and mentor the Senior Credit Controller and wider Credit Control team
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance management support
  • Build team capability and encourage continuous improvement
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and high performance across the function

Why Join Fora?

  • Be part of a fast-evolving finance function with real opportunity to grow
  • Move beyond traditional Credit Control into insight, automation, and transformation
  • Work in a business where client relationships and commercial thinking matter
  • Play a key role in protecting cash and enabling growth

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in Credit Control / Accounts Receivable within a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as Retail, Hospitality, Real Estate, or Flexible Workspace essential
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or leading Credit Control team members
  • Strong Excel, reporting, and debt analysis skills (experience with ERP systems and Power BI is a plus)
  • A commercial mindset—able to balance customer relationships with cash recovery and risk management
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and managing escalated or complex accounts
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and leveraging technology within Finance
  • Experience in multi-site or property/flexible workspace is beneficial

How You'll Succeed

You'll be:

  • Detail-driven but commercially aware
  • Highly organised and comfortable managing competing priorities
  • Comfortable with difficult conversations and stakeholder management
  • A confident people leader who enjoys coaching and developing others
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to hit the ground running
  • Focused on continuous improvement and smarter ways of working
