Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Manager, Future Students to join the Te Kahupapa - Future Students team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Implement the annual domestic recruitment plan in partnership with Manu Tāiko - Associate Directors and relevant teams.
- Lead, coach and performance manage a team of Future Student Advisers.
- Oversee school visits, community engagement, expos, outreach activity and future-student advising.
- Build strong relationships with secondary schools, careers advisers, community organisations and internal University stakeholders.
- Ensure prospective students and whānau receive accurate advice on programmes, admissions, pathways and student support.
- Monitor recruitment activity, CRM usage, pipeline performance and agreed KPIs.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, resources and the prospective student experience.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be an experienced student recruitment, engagement or tertiary education professional with strong leadership capability and a genuine commitment to supporting students into university study. You will be confident leading a team, building relationships with schools and community partners and using data driven insights to support your operational planning and continuous improvement.
Key requirements:
- At least 7 years’ experience in student recruitment, engagement or a related tertiary education function.
- Experience leading and developing staff, including coaching, performance management and building team capability.
- Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, including experience working with schools, community organisations and internal University teams.
- Sound understanding of the tertiary education environment in Aotearoa New Zealand, including admissions, qualification pathways and equity considerations.
- Experience using CRM systems, performance metrics and data to inform decision-making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity of access in education.
