Come join us in meaningful work!We are hiring a Statehouse Reporter to join our team located in Phoenix, Arizona.As a Statehouse Reporter, you will:Report on the people, power and policies shaping Arizona — from the governor’s office to the committee rooms to the halls of the judiciary.Produce regular scoops, analysis, Playmaker Profiles and explainers for an engaged, largely insider audience.Develop sources across the political spectrum and across the state.Help the Arizona Capitol Times/State Affairs remain the go-to source for smart, reliable and fearless statehouse news.Contribute to special series, newsletters and public-facing events.Collaborate with other State Affairs journalists to break silos and elevate coverage nationwide.Essential qualifications for this position include:5+ years of professional work experience as a reporterBachelor’s degree in journalism or related field Ability to write clean, compelling and accurate storiesAbility to be nonpartisan and commit to fact-based journalismAbility to work independently Preferred qualifications for this position include: Prior professional work experience as a reporter covering politics, government or public policySkilled in audio, video or data journalismThis is an in-office work opportunity that operates most days out of the Arizona Statehouse in Phoenix, Arizona and the State Affairs office in downtown Phoenix.  State Affairs offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to employees.The annual salary range for this role, as posted, is $54,000 - $58,000.
