About the Role
We are seeking a People Business Partner to join our UK HR team.
This is a true end-to-end People Business Partner role supporting our UK technical and operational functions. As the dedicated People Business Partner for these business areas, you will work closely with operational leaders to develop and deliver people strategies that drive business performance, organisational effectiveness and employee engagement.
You will take ownership of the full employee lifecycle for your client group, partnering with managers from recruitment and onboarding through to development, performance, organisational change and offboarding. You will provide commercially focused HR advice and coaching, helping leaders build high-performing teams while ensuring people decisions are fair, consistent and aligned with business objectives.
A key part of this role is leading employee relations activity across your business areas. You will confidently manage complex ER cases, coach managers through challenging situations and use people data and insights to identify trends, mitigate risk and support continuous improvement.
Working closely with operational leaders and key stakeholders across the business, you will champion engagement, talent development, succession planning and organisational change, ensuring the technical workforce is equipped to deliver an exceptional service to our customers.
Business Partnering
- Act as the dedicated HR Business Partner for the UK technical and operational functions.
- Build trusted relationships with operational leaders, providing commercially focused HR advice and challenge to support business objectives.
- Partner with managers on workforce planning, organisational design, succession planning, talent development and employee engagement.
- Coach and develop managers to build confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
- Support organisational change, restructures and business transformation initiatives.
- Use people data and insights to identify trends and recommend solutions that improve business performance.
Employee Lifecycle
- Take ownership of the end-to-end employee lifecycle for your client group, including recruitment, onboarding, probation, development, internal moves, contractual changes and offboarding.
- Partner with managers to attract, develop and retain high-performing talent.
- Support recruitment activities, including interviews, selection, pre-employment checks and onboarding.
- Ensure an excellent employee experience throughout every stage of employment.
Employee Relations
- Lead and manage employee relations cases, including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance, capability and probation matters.
- Provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Coach managers through complex people matters while balancing business needs with employee experience.
- Identify ER trends and implement proactive solutions to improve employee engagement and reduce organisational risk.
People Initiatives
- Lead and support initiatives focused on employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and organisational culture.
- Partner with Learning & Development to identify capability gaps and support management development initiatives.
- Collaborate with operational stakeholders, including Health & Safety, Fleet, Training and Resource Planning, to deliver effective people solutions.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to business priorities.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are implemented consistently across your business areas.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a generalist HR role, such as HR Advisor, People Advisor or Junior HR Business Partner, ideally supporting operational or field-based teams.
- Experience partnering with managers to deliver commercially focused HR solutions.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of managing the full employee lifecycle.
- Demonstrable experience managing employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and capability matters.
- Good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting operational, technical or field-based workforces is highly desirable.
- Experience influencing and coaching managers at all levels.
- Ability to build credible relationships and work effectively with multiple stakeholders across a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using HR systems and interpreting people data to support decision-making.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified, or working towards qualification (desirable).
