(Senior) Software Engineer - Developer Enablement (m/f/d)

Quantum Systems has scaled rapidly from 300 to over 1,700 people, and our engineering practices need to evolve with us. As part of the Software Factory team within our Core Domain, your mission is to accelerate developer velocity, eliminate friction, and upgrade system quality across the entire organization.

You won’t just maintain infrastructure; you will actively shape our engineering culture. You will design, build, and champion the state-of-the-art development tooling and CI infrastructure that powers our large, polyglot environment. From defining pragmatic engineering processes to tracking our success with metrics such as DORA, you will ensure our engineering teams can move faster and safer.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

• Drive Technical & Process Evolution: Mentor and guide software teams toward modern engineering practices (e.g., modern monorepos, automated testing, trunk-based development). You will gain authentic buy-in by demonstrating the "why" rather than forcing compliance.

• Bridge the Gap: Meet teams where they are currently. By truly understanding their pain points and listening to resistance, you will build a roadmap to gently but firmly guide them toward efficiency.

• Eliminate Friction: Identify opportunities to simplify processes and streamline workflows. Your ultimate goal is creating a faster, smoother Developer Experience (DevEx).

• Cultivate a Growth Mindset: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety, and iterative learning (Kaizen). You will help the team turn operational mistakes into blameless learning opportunities.

• Evolve the Build & CI Ecosystem: Continuously optimize our large-scale build and CI/CD environments. You will ensure fast, reliable, and reproducible feedback loops for developers.

• Shape the Future Base OS: Collaborate with embedded and infrastructure teams on our transition toward a managed, image-based Base OS for high-performance compute targets.

Technical Skills (Required)

• Build System Expertise: Strong experience managing, scaling, or architecting build systems for large, polyglot codebases. You should be comfortable with advanced build orchestration.

• CI/CD & DevTools Automation: Deep practical knowledge of building and operating robust CI/CD pipelines and developer enablement tools at scale.

• Process & Velocity Focus: Experience defining and rolling out clean engineering standards (Definition of Done, linting) and a passion for measuring developer experience using data (like DORA metrics).

• Linux Fundamentals: Solid grasp of Linux-based systems, networking, and deployment automation.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Bazel Expertise: Deep experience with Bazel is a massive plus and will give you a major head start.

• Image-Based Provisioning: Experience with modern OS compilation, immutable infrastructure, or image-based provisioning for high-performance compute/embedded targets (e.g., Yocto, Nix/NixOS, systemd-mkosi, or Nvidia Jetpack).

• Cloud & IaC Foundations: Familiarity with cloud-native systems and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to interface effectively with our dedicated cloud teams.
