Branch Manager - HCB Wellington
We can’t manage without you.
Are you a manager extraordinaire? A born leader ready to take the reins and lead the way? Then we’ve got the perfect job for you. We’re looking for a branch manager to join us in Lower Hutt, Wellington.
This is a practical leadership role for someone who can drive profitable sales growth, run a clean operation, build customer relationships, and get the best out of their team.
Reporting to the National Business Manager, you will take ownership of branch performance across sales, margin, customer service, inventory, health and safety, and day-to-day operations.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
- Lead, coach, and develop the branch team.
- Drive sales growth through existing customers and new business opportunities.
- Build strong B2B customer relationships and improve customer retention.
- Manage branch operations, including inventory, stock accuracy, returns, warranties, and branch presentation.
- Maintain a strong health and safety culture.
- Deliver against sales, gross profit, customer service, operational, and inventory targets.
- Maintain pricing discipline and protect margin.
- Ensure reporting, administration, and branch processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Work with the wider HCB network to improve performance and share best practice.
About you
You are a confident, practical people leader who knows how to keep a branch moving. You understand that strong performance comes from clear expectations, good customer relationships, disciplined execution, and a team that knows what it is doing. Revolutionary stuff, apparently.
You will bring:
- Proven leadership experience in a B2B, trade, wholesale, automotive, industrial, or branch-based environment.
- A track record of delivering sales and business performance.
- Strong customer relationship and business development skills.
- Commercial understanding across sales, margin, stock, and cost control.
- Good operational discipline and attention to detail.
- The ability to coach, develop, and hold people accountable.
- Strong communication and computer skills.
- A full New Zealand driver licence, with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
- Current legal right to work in New Zealand.
Battery, automotive, or industrial experience would be useful, but leadership, commercial discipline, and customer focus matter most.
Why join HCB?
This is a chance to lead a key regional branch in a well-established national business with a strong reputation in the New Zealand battery market.
You will have real ownership, visible impact, and the opportunity to grow the branch by leading from the front.
If you are a commercially minded branch leader who enjoys building teams, growing customer relationships, and delivering strong business performance, apply now!
