via Workable

Role: Social Media and Content Manager
Salary: £38,000 to £45,000 FTE, pro rata (roughly £15,000 to £27,000 depending on days)
Working pattern: Part-time, 2 to 3 days a week.
Location: Hybrid. Ideally one day a week in London, remote otherwise.
Reports to: Co-founder

The short version

We're two established, profitable UK finance and accounting businesses. One advises fast-growing startups and scaleups. The other is an accounting practice built for early-stage founders.

We've grown almost entirely on reputation and referral, and we've reached the point where that should be compounding rather than just ticking over. We're bringing content in-house, and this is the role that owns it.

What the work is

Producing content across a mix of founder and company accounts, on LinkedIn primarily, alongside Instagram and short-form video.

Writing: In several distinct voices, and keeping them distinct. Some of it is the business talking. A lot of it is named individuals, which is a harder and more interesting problem.

Brand and tone of voice: We have positioning, brand guidance and a clear articulation of how we think and how we talk, already written down. You'd work inside it, apply it consistently across two brands and several individuals, and improve it as you go. Recognising when something is off-brand before anyone else notices is a core part of this job.

Design: Carousels, static graphics, thumbnails, anything visual that supports the writing. This isn't a graphic design role and you won't be building a visual identity from scratch, but you do need real competence and taste working inside brand guidelines. Canva, Figma or Adobe, whatever you're fastest in.

Video: Short-form vertical, edited properly. You'd direct what gets filmed, be in the room or on the call when it's filmed, and cut it yourself.

Judgement: Deciding what's worth saying this week and what isn't. Spotting when something that happened in the business is actually a story worth telling.

How the role works

You'd own this area end to end and make the work yourself. There's no agency to brief and no production team to hand things to, which is deliberate: we think content is better when the person with the ideas is the same person who executes them.

We'd start collaboratively. Early on we'll review things closely, talk through what worked and what didn't, and you'll be learning two brands and several individual voices at once. We'd expect that to change fairly quickly. The destination is a person who genuinely understands how we think, publishes with a light touch of oversight, and tells us what we should be doing rather than waiting to be asked.

That's the job we're actually hiring for. The first few months are just how you get there

Who we think this suits

Enough experience that you've developed instincts rather than just process. You've seen enough campaigns land and enough die that you know the difference before you press publish.

A genuinely strong writer. This is the non-negotiable. Writing convincingly in someone else's voice is the core skill of the role.

Ideally B2B or professional services background. You understand that good content for an accountancy firm looks nothing like good content for a DTC brand.

Confident with video end to end, from directing what's shot to cutting it. We're not precious about tools.

Comfortable in a small business rather than a marketing department. Fast decisions, direct feedback, no layers.

You have a view. We'd rather be told we're wrong about something than have our brief executed politely.

Practicalities

2-3 days a week, and we mean it. We're not going to pay for three days and expect five. If the work consistently needs more, we'll either pay for more or scale it back.

Mostly remote. Ideally one day a week with us in London, which is where most of the filming happens and where you'll pick up the things that turn into content. We're flexible on how that works in practice, and we'd rather have the right person on slightly different terms than the nearest person on ours. You are of course welcome to come in more often.

£38,000 to £45,000 FTE, pro rata, so roughly £15,000 to £27,000 depending on days and experience. Employed rather than freelance, though we'll discuss a day rate for the right person.

Permanent. This isn't a project. We'd expect whoever takes this to still be doing it in three years with a broader remit.
