Industry: Mission-Critical Facilities, Data Centers
Engagement Type: Independent Contractor Agreement for Provision of Services (long-term)
Ehvert Mission Critical, a business unit within Salas O’Brien, is seeking an experienced
Information and Communications Technology Engineer for a long-term independent contractor basis.
This is an ongoing contractual engagement with a US-based company and is not limited to a single project. The role involves continuous collaboration across multiple mission-critical projects, based on business needs.
You will provide services as an independent, self-employed professional under a formal independent contractor agreement.
How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their resume in English detailing their relevant experience.
Role Summary:
As a Controls Design Engineer, you will support the design and documentation of control systems for mission-critical projects, including large-scale data centers. This role is focused on developing high-quality design deliverables in close coordination with controls engineers and multidisciplinary teams. There is a strong emphasis on Revit-based design, as well as supporting broader low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, where applicable. This position is well-suited for someone with a solid technical foundation who can contribute to production work and help scale project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and produce control system design drawings and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Support the design of building automation and control systems for HVAC and related systems under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with layout, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel designs for control systems.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and consistent design delivery.
• Contribute to low-voltage system design efforts, including controls, fire alarm, and related systems as needed.
• Update and maintain project documentation, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project standards.
• Support design reviews by incorporating feedback and making necessary revisions.
• Assist with preparation of submittals, as-built drawings, and commissioning documentation.
• Follow internal QA/QC processes and applicable industry standards and codes.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field is preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
• 3–6+ years of experience in controls design, building systems, or low-voltage systems.
• Proficiency in Revit is strongly preferred; experience with AutoCAD required.
• Basic understanding of BAS/BMS systems, DDC controls, and integration with HVAC systems.
• Exposure to fire alarm and/or other low-voltage systems (security, communications) is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Able to work effectively in a team environment and support multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow technical direction.
