About BlinkPay

Looking for an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing team that is dedicated to making a difference in the payment industry? BlinkPay is seeking exceptional talent to join our team of payment experts as we continue to innovate and develop cutting-edge open banking solutions for our clients. With our customer-centric approach and state-of-the-art technology, BlinkPay is committed to providing secure, reliable, and efficient payment services to our customers.

Position Overview

As Head of Platform, you will own the ‘how’ of engineering at BlinkPay - the infrastructure, tooling, and internal systems that allow our product teams to move faster, ship with confidence, and scale without friction. The person in this role will report directly to the CTO and will serve as the operational and technical engine of our engineering organisation.

While the CTO focuses on long-term technical vision, strategy, and business alignment, this role owns the day-to-day heartbeat of our engineering platform. You will ensure the platform performs excellently today — maintaining reliability, driving operational excellence, and continuously building toward what tomorrow demands. In practice, this means leading platform operations, coordinating cross-team technical decisions, and keeping the engineering organisation running at pace.

You will also serve as a critical bridge between our internal platform and the external world — acting as the technical lead for new customer integrations, ensuring that BlinkPay's APIs are well-supported, well-documented, and easy to adopt. This is a genuinely hands-on role; you will build, review, troubleshoot, and architect alongside the team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own and operate BlinkPay's AWS cloud infrastructure hands-on, ensuring it is reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable
  • Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and internal developer workflows to increase engineering velocity
  • Drive platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence as transaction volumes scale
  • Ensure all technology assets across Debit API, Gateway, Portal, and Data API workstreams are adequately maintained and evolving
  • Identify and remove infrastructure and tooling burdens that slow down product engineering teams
  • Build and maintain internal systems and standards that allow engineers to focus on customer-facing features
  • Reduce organisational reliance on single points of knowledge by embedding documentation, runbooks, and shared ownership into platform culture
  • Serve as a second senior technical resource, coordinating cross-team architectural decisions across all platform workstreams
  • Maintain deep technical knowledge across our stack — Java, Python, Node.js, and Vue.js — contributing at both code and architecture level
  • Act as Integration Architect, working directly with external customers and partners to design, accelerate, and support integrations with BlinkPay's payments APIs

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the IT industry, or equivalent exceptional and varied experience
  • Proven background as a hands-on software developer who has progressed into technical leadership
  • Substantial hands-on experience with AWS — you've built and maintained production systems yourself, not just provided oversight
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform
  • Experience managing and improving CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of Java, Python, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks such as Vue.js
  • Experience in platform engineering, DevOps, solution architecture, or senior technical operations roles
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce operational friction and improve developer velocity in a growing engineering team
  • A track record of reducing technical risk through documentation, knowledge sharing, and process
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience designing and supporting API integrations for external partners

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience in the payments or fintech industry
  • Background in regulated financial services environments
  • Experience with platform reliability engineering and SRE practices
  • Familiarity with compliance and security considerations in financial technology

What We Offer

  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Flexible working arrangements, this is a 100% work-from-home role
  • Health insurance coverage
  • Regular team events and activities
