We are seeking a proficient Network Engineer to join our Civica Infrastructure Team. This role requires a strong foundation in Infrastructure Engineering, as well as comprehensive experience with wide-area networking technologies and enterprise-level settings.
In this role, your main responsibility will be to oversee, maintain, and continuously enhance the health, resilience, and performance of Civica’s network infrastructure. You will work with a diverse array of advanced technologies, including local data centres, hybrid cloud connectivity, multi‑vendor networking, CDN services, and SD‑WAN.
You will work closely with platform engineers, hardware engineers, and other network engineers, serving as an escalation point for tactical network issues raised by Support and Operations teams.
What you’ll be doing:
Network & Infrastructure Operations
- Manage and maintain Civica’s network infrastructure to ensure availability, performance and security
- Design, build and support networking solutions across on‑premise data centres and hybrid cloud environments
- Support technologies including WAN, LAN, SD‑WAN, CDN services and hybrid cloud connectivity
- Act as a senior technical escalation point for network‑related incidents in a 24x7 operational environment
Service Delivery & Customer Engagement
- Engage with internal Civica business units to deliver projects in line with agreed service levels
- Support environment changes and resolve service outages, including after‑hours activities when required
- Notify and coordinate with multiple resolver teams during service‑affecting incidents
Documentation & Accuracy
- Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation in line with Civica policies and data protection laws
- Create and update:
- High‑ and low‑level designs
- Methods of Procedure (MoPs)
- Network diagrams and maintenance records
Compliance & Governance
- Adhere to Civica’s Technology Centre Service Management processes including:
- Change management
- Risk management
- Vendor management
- Incident, request, and problem management
- Successfully process and implement change requests in line with change management policy
Continuous Improvement
- Continuously tune and improve monitoring and alerting systems
- Contribute to knowledge management through feedback, article creation and process improvement
- Proactively suggest improvements to policies, procedures and operational practices
- Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives
Work Management & Performance
- Take personal responsibility for time management and workload
- Meet productivity, utilisation, quality and compliance targets
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and operational excellence
- Achieve annual objectives through the Civica performance management framework
Team & Culture
- Work in a way that reflects Civica’s culture and values
- Share knowledge via Confluence and SharePoint
What you will bring:
Mandatory Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of core networking concepts and architectures
- In‑depth knowledge of network hardware technologies
- Experience in remote and onsite administration
- Strong understanding of network operations environments, systems and services
- Routing protocol expertise: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- Hands‑on experience designing and supporting:
- Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switches
- Cisco ASA and FirePower firewalls
- Knowledge of networking tools and monitoring platforms
- Public cloud networking experience (Azure and/or AWS)
- Ability to understand and execute structured change management processes
Highly Desirable Technical Competencies
- LAN, WAN and enterprise networking using Cisco platforms
- Advanced troubleshooting across routing, switching and connectivity issues
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Knowledge of cloud networking, load balancers and server technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Networking
- Networking certifications (preferred)
- In‑depth knowledge of IT Service Management and IT Operations Management tools
- Experience supporting change adoption in a fast‑paced environment
