Position Summary
The Buyer (Indirect) should ensure all the items or services of the responsible categories or accounts are procured and delivered on time, in full and of good quality. These products or services are to support R&D, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, Field Maintenance requirement and general business use.
The position of Buyer (Indirect) will cover for indirect procurement, order management, contract management, managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Buyer (Indirect) is also responsible for supporting contract team to make sure proactive contract management with external suppliers.
This is an on-site position located in the Oxford, UK office, with flexibility.

Major Responsibilities
Under direction from the Senior Buyer, the Buyer (Indirect) will be responsible for:
- Sourcing: Assist R&D, Product Engineering or Servicing teams in sourcing new items with existing or potential new suppliers.
- Supplier Selection: Conduct market research for new suppliers for Indirect Procurement and assist other teams in the Supplier Selection process.
- Order Lifecycle management: requesting quote, placing of purchase orders utilising the ERP system. Managing the SAP authorisation process for medium and high value orders with senior management sign off.;
- Monitor the open order book to ensure orders and services are received on time in full. Identify the need and liaising with suppliers to expedite orders; Adhere to processes of monitoring, reporting, and actively managing purchase orders;
- Escalate supplier performance or purchase order issues to the Senior Buyer and wider Operations Team; Working with Outsourced Supply Management team to understand impact; Working with Planning team, review recommendations in the Integrated Business Planning module and action accordingly;
- Risk management: Ensure that any issues including obsolescence that may impact production schedules or item availability are escalated and collaborated with wider team.
- Supplier negotiation: Lead or support negotiation with suppliers to ensure optimal cost; Travel to suppliers where a business need has been identified; Support the Outsourced management team to conduct regular supplier performance reviews; Support contract team to develop appropriate contract in place or ontime renewal.
- Stakeholder Management: Under stakeholder needs and manage the expectations, adding value by coordinating in between to achieve compliance and deliver outputs
- Collaboration: Work with cross functional teams to ensure joined up category approach, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Quality management: Assist the Quality Function and wider Operations team to develop purchasing related process that comply with quality management system.
- Cost Reduction: Proactively identify and action any opportunities for cost reduction.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist with the creation and development of procurement processes.
- Adhere to the letter and spirit of OrganOx’s Code of Conduct and all other company policies
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable industry experience in a buyer/purchasing role, that includes proven experience in indirect procurement, preferably within the medical technology field or other highly regulated industry.
- Ability to effectively work in a multi-disciplinary team. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the company including Production, Commercial, Sales, Quality, Engineering and Finance.
- Ability to develop and execute procurement project plans effectively.
- Good understanding of procurement processes and relevant experience within a similar role.
- Computer literate to a high level in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to analyse data and make recommendations.
- Experience of using an ERP system in daily activity.
- Good understanding of MRP, ideally with direct working experience.
- Proactive, resourceful and good problem-solving skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet team targets, in a continuously evolving environment.
- Able to communicate and liaise effectively with people of all levels.
- Confident interacting and negotiating with suppliers.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management. For example, qualified or working towards CIPS Level 4
