At LondonEnergy, we’re proud of our vital role in managing North London’s waste and protecting the environment. As part of the team, you’ll already know that we handle and process 750,000 tonnes of waste each year, making us the second largest waste contract in the UK.

By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.

About the role:

The Real Estates Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for LondonEnergy’s Facilities and Estates function across all operational sites.

The role is responsible for ensuring that facilities, infrastructure, grounds and associated services are safe, compliant, well maintained and capable of supporting current and future operational requirements.

The postholder leads the development and delivery of the Facilities and Estates strategy, manages estate-related contracts and supplier performance, oversees compliance and governance activities, supports major organisational projects and provides leadership to the Facilities and Estates team.

The role works closely with Operations, Asset Management, HSQE, Procurement, Finance, HR, contractors and other key stakeholders to ensure services are delivered effectively, sustainably and in line with business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, inspire and develop the Facilities and Estates team, creating a high-performing culture through coaching, mentoring, performance management, succession planning and employee development.
  • Provide strategic leadership for LondonEnergy's Facilities and Estates function, ensuring services support organisational objectives and future operational requirements.
  • Oversee the safe, compliant and efficient management of buildings, infrastructure, grounds and workplace facilities, driving operational excellence and business continuity.
  • Manage Facilities and Estates contracts and supplier performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery, strong governance, value for money and continuous improvement.
  • Champion health, safety and statutory compliance by overseeing risk management, contractor governance, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Drive effective asset management through D365, using data, reporting and performance metrics to improve maintenance, compliance and operational performance.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, operational teams and external partners, providing strategic advice, performance reporting and support for major organisational and estate transformation projects.
  • IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification/experience.
  • IWFM qualification or a relevant Facilities, Estates, Property or Management qualification is desirable.
  • Proven experience in Facilities, Estates or Contract Management within a complex operational environment.
  • Demonstrable experience leading in-house teams and managing contractors, supplier performance and service delivery against KPIs.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, compliance, RAMS, permits, risk assessments and audit requirements.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and budgets.
  • Proficiency in D365 or a similar CAFM/EAM system, with experience using data and reporting to drive operational performance; experience supporting major projects or transition programmes is advantageous.
