About School of Coding & AI

School of Coding & AI is a growing education provider delivering career-focused programmes across Business, Computing, AI, STEM, Health and Social Care.

We work with universities, employers and industry partners to provide education that develops practical knowledge, professional confidence and strong employment outcomes.

Our focus is simple: student first, always.

About the Role

We are looking for a Lecturer in Food Business Management to deliver engaging, industry relevant teaching across our Telford campus

The role will focus on helping students understand how food businesses operate, compete, grow and respond to changing commercial, consumer and sustainability pressures. Teaching will combine business theory with practical application across areas such as economics, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, ethical business and strategic management.

You will use case studies, live business challenges, commercial projects and collaborative activities to help students apply their learning to food producers, retailers, suppliers, hospitality organisations and specialist food enterprises.

The role would suit either an experienced lecturer or a food-sector professional with strong commercial knowledge who is looking to develop a career in higher education. Applicants without extensive teaching experience will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate complex information clearly, support learners effectively and develop engaging learning activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan and deliver lectures, seminars, workshops and applied learning activities across Food Business Management modules.
  • Teach relevant subjects including business economics, consumer behaviour, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, sustainability, business ethics and strategic management.
  • Use food-sector examples, case studies and commercial data to connect academic theory with real business practice.
  • Support students to undertake market research, analyse consumer behaviour and develop customer-focused business and marketing proposals.
  • Develop students’ commercial skills through activities involving pitching, negotiation, teamwork, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving.
  • Help students understand the economic, environmental and social pressures affecting modern food businesses.
  • Design and assess a range of applied assessments, including business reports, presentations, portfolios, research projects and team challenges.
  • Provide clear, constructive and timely feedback that helps students improve their academic and professional performance.
  • Offer academic guidance and appropriate pastoral support, referring students to specialist services where required.
  • Contribute to module development, programme review, assessment design and continuous improvement activity.
  • Work with employers, guest speakers and industry partners to create relevant projects and learning opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and meet internal quality assurance, moderation and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in staff development, scholarly activity and relevant engagement with the food and higher education sectors.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in Food Business, Business Management, Marketing, Economics, Food Industry Management or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and management principles and how they apply within the food sector.
  • Experience teaching, training, mentoring, presenting or communicating complex information to different audiences.
  • Ability to create engaging learning activities that combine theory with practical and commercial application.
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-management skills.
  • A clear commitment to inclusive teaching, student support and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Previous teaching experience within higher education, further education or professional training.
  • A recognised teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE.
  • Professional experience within food production, retail, hospitality, supply chain, product development, marketing or food entrepreneurship.
  • Experience designing or assessing undergraduate modules.
  • Experience using live briefs, employer projects or client-based learning.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and academic governance within UK higher education.
  • Evidence of research, scholarship or continuing professional development relevant to food business management.

Why Join Us

  • Teach on a distinctive degree that combines business management with the commercial realities of the food sector.
