We are proud leaders in hardware-enabled Software as a Service (SaaS) for commercial refrigeration, with cutting-edge IoT solutions used by major brands worldwide, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Heineken, and Nestle. With offices in four countries and a dispersed team across 12 countries, we are truly global.

Join AoFrio as a Junior QA Engineer
Are you looking to kick-start your career in electronics and product testing? Do you love pulling gadgets apart to see how the electronics and firmware inside actually work? Are you the kind of person who works through a checklist methodically and never skips a step? If you're organised, detail-obsessed and ready to learn from an experienced team, AoFrio has the perfect opportunity for you to grow into a QA career.

The role:
As our Junior QA Engineer, based at our Auckland Head Office, you'll work alongside our development engineers to help make sure AoFrio's products are reliable, functional and ready for customers around the world.

This is a follow-the-procedure kind of role: you'll be given clear test scripts and checklists and your success will come down to how precisely and methodically you work through each step. It's a great fit if you're naturally organised, have sharp attention to detail and genuinely enjoy getting hands-on with electronics – firmware, displays, circuit boards and all. You'll be mentored as you build your skills across manual and automated testing, developing a strong foundation for a long-term QA career.

What you will be doing:
  • Carrying out manual and automated test sequences on AoFrio's IoT products, following defined test scripts and guidance.
  • Testing the Android, iOS and Windows applications that support our physical products.
  • Creating test cases from requirement specifications and product features, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Helping maintain our automation test systems and supporting the conversion of manual tests into automated processes.
  • Flagging any gaps identified during testing that could affect product fitness for purpose.
  • Supporting the creation of test procedures and tools.
  • Keeping our test equipment and test areas accurate and well maintained.
  • Contributing to product test plans, covering scope, coverage, risks and methodology.
  • Reporting test progress and outcomes to project and product teams.
  • Following established test and documentation best practices.
  • Translating field bug and failure reports into test cases for regression testing.
  • Tracking identified product failures and supporting resolution activities.

You will need:
  • 0–3 years' experience in software or product testing – internships, university projects and/or personal projects.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A naturally organised, detail-focused approach. You follow structured test procedures and checklists precisely, working through each step methodically.
  • A genuine interest in electronics. You've tested, built or tinkered with hardware that runs firmware, ideally with a display or user interface.
  • Some understanding of electrical and electronics fundamentals and how firmware is programmed and runs on a device (e.g. microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi or similar).
  • A foundational understanding of manual and automated testing concepts and methodologies.
  • Exposure to automation testing tools (Python and Behave desirable).
  • Confidence reviewing and translating product requirements into test cases, with support.
  • Mobile and application testing exposure (desired).
  • Awareness of Bluetooth LE (BLE) and serial communications (desired).
  • Awareness of test management and defect/bug tracking tools, e.g. Xray (desired).
