Electrical Project Manager - Dublin
Designer Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our operations team in Dublin, supporting the delivery of a major live data centre project for a leading global technology client.
This is a site-based delivery role, suited to someone with strong electrical project management experience in M&E contracting, mission critical, industrial, pharmaceutical, or large-scale commercial environments. The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical project delivery, working closely with site management, engineering, commercial, procurement, quality, safety, subcontractors and client-side stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical standard.
As Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and driving the electrical scope from planning and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and handover. You will manage project teams, oversee subcontractor performance, monitor progress against programme, resolve technical and commercial issues, and ensure that all work is delivered in line with Designer Group standards, client requirements and project specifications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of electrical works on a major Dublin-based data centre project.
- Manage site teams, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Drive programme delivery, ensuring milestones are achieved and risks are identified early.
- Work closely with the Project QS to manage commercial performance, cost control, variations and project reporting.
- Support procurement planning, technical submittals, RFIs, material approvals and subcontractor coordination.
- Review design information and work with engineering teams to resolve buildability, coordination and installation issues.
- Chair and attend project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives.
- Monitor labour, materials, plant and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Ensure works are completed in line with quality standards, commissioning requirements and handover expectations.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote and uphold Designer Group’s health, safety, quality and environmental standards at all times.
This role is ideal for an Electrical Project Manager who enjoys fast-paced site delivery, strong stakeholder engagement and the challenge of delivering complex electrical systems in a highly technical environment. The structure and responsibilities are aligned with the existing Electrical Project Manager role framework used by Designer Group.
Minimum requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience in electrical project management, ideally within an M&E contractor or specialist electrical contractor environment.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale electrical projects from construction through commissioning and handover.
- Strong understanding of electrical building services, site installation, technical coordination and project delivery.
- Experience managing subcontractors, supervisors, engineers and site-based project teams.
- Ability to manage programme, procurement, RFIs, technical submittals, progress reporting and project risks.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to work closely with quantity surveying and commercial teams.
- Good knowledge of health and safety requirements within a live construction environment.
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, delivery-led site environment.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Ability to live and work in Ireland without requiring sponsorship
Preferred requirements:
- Experience working on data centre, mission critical, pharmaceutical, industrial, semiconductor, life sciences or high-value commercial projects.
- Previous experience working on live client sites with strict safety, access, quality and programme controls.
- Experience with testing, commissioning, handover and system completion processes.
- Experience working with BIM, coordinated services drawings, technical submittals and design review processes.
- Electrical trade background, engineering qualification or construction management qualification would be advantageous.
- Experience working within a principal contractor, M&E contractor or major subcontractor delivery environment.
Soft skills:
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive performance through site teams and subcontractors.
- Clear communicator who can engage confidently with clients, consultants, internal stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Commercially aware, practical and solutions-focused.
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing priorities.
- Collaborative, organised and accountable.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and right-first-time delivery.
At Designer Group, we offer a competitive package and the opportunity to work on major projects with leading international clients.
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary.
- Performance-related bonus.
- Health cover.
- 7% employer pension contribution.
- Commercial vehicle.
- Career development and progression opportunities.
- Supportive team environment.
- Opportunity to work on high-profile projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
- Continuous professional development and training support.
- Access to a growing international business with a strong project pipeline.
