Key duties and Responsibilities
Strategic/Senior Management Support
- Lead on the further development, implementation and regular review of Worcestershire Cricket’s safeguarding policies and procedures and ensure that they are aligned with best practice and compliance with statutory and contractual obligations.
- Support, advise and provide expertise in embedding and maintaining a culture whereby safeguarding is recognised as a shared responsibility across all areas of work.
- Monitor and evaluate the experience of children and make recommendations to ensure the experience remains inclusive and child centred.
- Work with colleagues, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and other key partners to inform children and adults about their rights and empower them to report concerns. Ensure contact details are readily available through club communications.
- Develop robust and appropriate reporting processes to the Worcestershire County Cricket Club (WCCC) Board Safeguarding Lead.
- Work with colleagues and other key partners to ensure that there is a collaborative and cohesive approach to proactive prevention and awareness raising measures, and where appropriate, interventions and responding to issues.
Safeguarding Administration
- Work closely with HR to develop and implement safer recruitment practises and induction processes.
- Be the first point of contact for staff, coaches, parents, children, adults, and, if appropriate, external agencies in regard to information or referral of safeguarding matters and maintain safeguarding referrals, concerns and incidents efficiently ensuring accurate records are kept.
- Request, log, and chase (ECB) DBS checks for both new starters and renewals. Keep accurate records on staff DBS.
- Have overall responsibility for the management of safeguarding cases. Where cases are referred onto the ECB, be the principal point of contact and the conduit for communication to senior management where appropriate. Follow up on compliance and recommendations.
Education and Training
- Give support, direction, and guidance to staff in respect of all safeguarding incidents, concerns, or allegations.
- Ensure that staff, Board and other members are sufficiently trained, supported and guided in leading safeguarding within their organisations, departments, areas of responsibility.
- Develop and implement safeguarding education specific to individual roles and responsibilities to ensure that staff develop and maintain the necessary skills and knowledge to safeguard children and adults.
- Attend and deliver regular safeguarding training to staff and Board members.
- Keep abreast of current safeguarding issues, legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.
- Refer staff to undertake ECB ‘safe hands’ course and other require training as is appropriate for their roles/responsibilities.
- Be designated safeguarding lead on the majority of major Matchdays for event control to address safeguarding issues and concerns providing a safeguarding briefing ahead of some key games.
- Manage discrimination complaints and issues in partnership with the ECB Anti-discrimination unit.
EDI
- Support in operationalising the EDI action plan across Worcestershire Cricket working closely with HR, the wider Exec team, and the Board Lead for EDI.
- Support with the planning and preparation for the EDI Steering Group, including preparing agendas, minute taking and updating the Club’s EDI action plan, RACI and KPI’s.
- Support with engaging with external ED&I partners to drive meaningful education and change across the organisation.
- Support in the development and implementation of a variety of EDI focussed initiatives.
- Keep up to date with EDI changes across sectors and in legislation to ensure we continue to operate by exceeding best practice.
- Attend EDI related training and events as required.
- Ensure the equity, diversity and inclusion policy and standards are always upheld and always abide by our codes of conduct.

The nature of our work and the size of our team here at Worcestershire County Cricket requires everyone to be flexible, willing and an excellent team player.
This Job Description is not an exhaustive list of tasks but represents the key duties and responsibilities required by the role. You may be required to take on such reasonable additional or other responsibilities and tasks as we need from time to time.
This is a part-time role working 20 hours per week. You may be required to work very evenings and weekends during the Cricket season.
The salary for this role, based on 20 hours per week, is £15,000 to 18,000 DOE
