CVC DIF, the infrastructure strategy of leading global private markets manager CVC, is the majority shareholder in Low Carbon. Working alongside MassMutual, CVC DIF will enable Low Carbon to significantly expand its installed capacity and drive the next stage of growth as a diversified, leading next-generation IPP.

Role Description

Sitting within the Financial Operations and Controls team, the Financial Accountant will support the Development team by ensuring finance processes are performed in line with agreed performance and quality standards. The role will focus on month-end close, reporting, statutory compliance and maintaining a robust controls environment. This is a maternity cover role for one year, reporting to the Finance Manager.

This is a broad role suited to someone who enjoys ownership, process improvement and working across a complex international portfolio of renewable energy assets. The role will also require someone with good interpersonal skills who is confident dealing with external parties.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management reporting packs for a portfolio of companies across Europe
• Reviewing work, including that of peers and service providers, ensuring compliance with Low Carbon and regulatory policies, standards and procedures
• Preparation of consolidations and investment dashboards on a monthly basis
• Preparation of statutory financial statements and liaising with auditors
• Assist with updating, improving and implementing procedures for the finance team
• Liaising with external partners, including overseas service providers directing and monitoring their accounting work as appropriate
• Support with controls compliance and other internal controls requirements
• VAT reporting and reconciliation to management accounts
• Business partnering across the business to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting
• Assist with the onboarding and management of new assets
• Preparing commentary on variances (budget vs. actual vs forecast)
• Apply technical accounting and regulatory knowledge to the preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements

Person Specification

• A confident communicator who can present complex financial information clearly and concisely
• Good working knowledge of UK GAAP, Polish and German GAAP knowledge desirable but not essential
• A positive attitude and collaborative working style, able to give and receive constructive coaching
• A strong multi-tasker, adept at managing accounts for a large number of companies and delivering to deadlines
• Excellent time management skills, with a committed focus on accuracy and details
• A growth mindset, keen to learn and take on new challenges

Skills & Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Extensive experience in reviewing and analysing management accounts
• Proven track record of identifying financial trends and providing actionable insights
• Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and practices
• Excellent Excel skills
• Experience of management accounting and reporting within a demanding, high growth business
• Experience preparing consolidations and wider financial reporting beyond standard management accounts
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across both finance and non-finance teams
• Experience working with an SPV structure within Renewable Energy, Infrastructure, or similar industry (desirable but not essential)
• Experience working within finance operations and delivering a continuous improvement agenda
