
Data and Performance Analyst

What will you be doing | Ngā whainga This is a great opportunity for a data-savvy analyst who enjoys turning complex information into clear, practical insights that help others make informed decisions. You will play a key role in ensuring Tourism New Zealand has trusted, timely and accessible tourism and organisational performance information to support planning, reporting and decision-making. * You'll develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, data flows and performance tracking tools that bring together key tourism and organisational datasets. * You'll identify trends, risks, opportunities and outliers, translating data into simple, visual and story-led insights for internal teams, government stakeholders and the wider industry. * You'll work closely with the Head of Business Planning and Performance and the wider insights team to support business planning, government reporting and responses to specific business questions. * You'll use tools such as Power BI, SQL and approved AI-enabled analytics tools to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, pattern identification and insight generation. We're looking for someone who naturally is curious, analytical and confident working with data, and systems. You'll enjoy solving problems, building trusted reporting, and helping others understand what the data is telling us and why it matters. * A tertiary qualification in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. * At least two years' experience in data analysis, analytics reporting, performance insights or a similar role. * Strong experience with SQL and Power BI, inc developing and maintaining dashboards, reporting datasets, reusable data models or semantic layers, with experience with Python and/or R is a preferred. * Strong knowledge of data mining, warehousing, processing, data visualisation and reporting principles. * The ability to gather, blend and interpret data from multiple sources and turn analysis into practical recommendations. * Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make insights simple, visual and meaningful for different audiences. * Confidence using AI-enabled analytics or productivity tools to support analysis, reporting, automation or documentation * A creative, detail-focused and flexible approach, with sound judgement, strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to keep learning.
