Business Development Manager
Our Business Development Managers are responsible for driving revenue growth through the identification, development, and conversion of new business opportunities, while supporting the expansion of existing client relationships. Specifically, opportunities across pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations.
They own pipeline development, support strategic pursuits, and ensure opportunities are effectively progressed from identification through to conversion. They coordinate the operational delivery of business development activities, including proposals, lead generation, CRM management, client interactions, meetings, and event delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full business development lifecycle, including prospecting, networking, opportunity qualification, RFP responses and closing activities
- Partner with scientific, strategy, and delivery teams to develop compelling client solutions that address evolving market
- Monitor industry trends, competitive intelligence, regulatory changes and emerging opportunities within the medical communications landscape to inform growth strategies
- Represent the company at industry conferences and networking events to enhance brand visibility and generate qualified leads
- Coordinate the planning and preparation of proposals, credentials decks, and pitch materials
- Manage the operational and logistics lifecycle for congresses, industry-led events, and sponsorship activities, including delegate registration, travel and accommodation, booth and marketing collateral logistics
- Facilitate alignment across the business development & marketing team, helping to integrate workstreams and ensure consistent messaging and delivery
Growth areas include all areas of medical affairs, evidence and access, and consulting services.
This role is suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, professional environment and enjoys working across multiple stakeholders and priorities. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, highly motivated and a proactive approach are essential.
Ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, client services, or related roles within medical communications, healthcare, or pharmaceutical environments
- Demonstrated growth mindset with a passion for driving organic growth and pursuing new business opportunities
- Experience working on proposals, pitches, and client presentations
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex updates and build strong relationships across levels
- Experience creating and maintaining project plans, schedules, reports, and documentation
- Working knowledge of CRM systems, opportunity tracking, pipeline reporting processes, and project management tools
- Awareness of medical communications services, agency structures, and client engagement models
- A strong understanding of business development lifecycle and sales processes; commercially minded
