About us:

Make a difference and advance your career by helping deliver some of the UK’s most important #tech4good projects, making the world a smarter, safer, greener, and healthier place.

You’ll join a talented team of dynamic and driven professional problem solvers; creative thinkers and solutions builders who thrive on helping clients meet the most exciting digital transformation challenges.

At a certified Great Place to Work®, you’ll experience a dynamic and nurturing environment that rewards initiative and flexibility and enjoy a career path tailored to your own aspirations.

Founded in 1992, we are a successful, growing International digital transformation consultancy. We deliver multi-Queen’s Award for innovation winning platforms and services that support large-scale digital transformation. Our digital, data and technology solutions are used by globally recognised public and private sector brands operating in a variety of sectors including Civil Defence, Healthcare, Sustainable Environment and Land Asset Management, and Digital Democracy.

The Role:

As a Full Stack GIS Developer at Informed Solutions, you’ll play a key role in shaping, building, and delivering innovative digital solutions that solve complex challenges in the public sector. The work you do will have a real and lasting impact on society, helping to make the UK healthier, safer, and more sustainable.

You’ll be part of an experienced and collaborative team, working on greenfield projects from the ground up and delivering enterprise-scale digital services for high-profile clients across multiple sectors. Collaboration is at the heart of how we work, and you’ll partner closely with colleagues across Software Engineering, User-Centred Design, Delivery Management and Live Services to deliver exceptional outcomes.

As a consultancy, we are proudly technology agnostic. This means our priority is designing the right solution using the most effective tools for the challenge at hand. Our teams work with a wide range of technologies including .NET, Java, Python, Node.js, AWS and Azure, giving you the opportunity to expand your skills, explore new technologies, and grow your career.

Many of our projects also leverage Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and open-source geospatial tools, helping clients unlock the value of location data through innovative mapping and spatial analysis solutions.

This role offers flexibility to be based from our Altrincham (Manchester) or Westminster (London) offices, where you’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team environment, supported by our hybrid working approach.

Role Responsibilities

This is a varied role that calls for adaptability, ambition, and a proactive approach to working in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will:

  • Deliver high-quality solutions: Design, build, and continually improve software, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines for public and private sector clients, ensuring robustness and scalability. Projects may also include solutions with geospatial data, GIS platforms, and open-source mapping technologies.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with Senior and Lead Engineers, Delivery Managers, and colleagues in User-Centred Design and Data Science to shape designs, contribute to documentation, and deliver against agreed plans.
  • Ensure standards and best practice: Follow established approaches, provide accurate technical estimates, and escalate risks or issues where required.
  • Communicate and build relationships: Present prototypes, solutions, and progress updates clearly to stakeholders, while building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients, and partner organisations.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years’ proven experience in a Full Stack Engineering role, with strong skills in .NET, Java or Python, plus modern JavaScript libraries.
  • A collaborative mindset with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and design patterns, including serverless and microservices.
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile environments, using Scrum, Kanban and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Experience with cloud platforms, ideally AWS or Azure, to design and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Experience working with GIS systems or geospatial data, and familiarity with open-source mapping tools (e.g. Leaflet, OpenLayers, QGIS, GeoServer, PostGIS).

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience working in a consultancy environment, engaging with external stakeholders and clients.
  • Exposure to public sector projects.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and/or Terraform.
  • Awareness of the GOV.UK Digital Service Standard and Technology Code of Practice, and their application to geospatial systems in public sector projects.

Senior colleagues, experts, and leaders at Informed Solutions are committed to supporting, coaching, upskilling, and enabling the success and career progression of each other.
