You’ll be key in managing PFMEA, MSA, and PPAP while working with dynamic teams to ensure we meet the highest standards. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical and quality management skills to work with minimum supervision and contribute to the overall success of MTS’ quality objectives. If you’re a self-motivated problem-solver with a passion for quality, this is your chance to make a real impact at Mactaggart Scott!

About us:

MacTaggart Scott primarily supports the Naval Defence industry, providing complete solutions to customer needs from analysis of initial customer requirements, to design and manufacture, and right through to commissioning and through life support. Established in 1898, we are proud of our history and tradition but believe that sustainable competitive advantage can only be achieved through continuous improvement, investment, and a commitment to business excellence at every level within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Design & Process Support: Provide guidance on product design and manufacturing processes, supporting the creation of PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
  • Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits to monitor compliance with quality standards and address non-conformance issues.
  • Quality Communication: Regularly communicate with project teams to report on quality risks, issues, and performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and contribute to process improvement reviews across the business.
  • Contractual & Compliance Support: Review contractual quality requirements and support with compliance audits and quality system reviews.
  • Customer Interface: Establish strong relationships with customers, identifying potential issues and implementing corrective/preventative measures.
  • Training: Assist in training and mentoring junior staff within the Quality Department.
  • Health & Safety: Support the implementation of Health, Safety, and Quality plans and policies

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a strong background in manufacturing and Quality Assurance, with a proven ability to work independently and manage quality activities. We’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can drive quality improvements across the business.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in APQP and core tools such as PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans, and PPAP.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
  • Experience in a similar Quality Engineer role, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • A self-motivated individual who works well independently with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification.
  • Technical qualifications in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with technical workshops, such as CNC, Welding, Testing, or Fitting.

Benefits: Your Future at MacTaggart Scott – What We Offer:

  • Flexible Working Hours: Choose between a 4- or 5-day week, and flexible hours between 07:00 and 19:00.
  • Generous Leave Entitlements: Including annual leave, paid parental leave, and more.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Access to a comprehensive online wellbeing program, Employee Assistance Programme, onsite nurse, and flu vaccinations.
  • Learning & Development: Supportive environment for career growth with a dedicated Learning and Development team.
  • Employee Benefits: Secure parking, a cycle-to-work scheme, and employee discounts.
  • Pension & Life Insurance: Competitive pension scheme and life insurance for peace of mind.

If you're passionate about quality management, continuous improvement, and working within a dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today to join a company that values innovation, commitment, and excellence.
