Event Monitoring Specialist
Life @ AP+:
We are one connected team in pursuit of one inspiring purpose – to unite people and technology to power better experiences.
At AP+, you’ll work on technology that matters. We operate payments and identity infrastructure connecting banks, financial institutions, retailers, businesses, government agencies and fintechs – helping Australians pay, get paid and prove who they are every day.
That means knowing what’s happening across our technology environment – and spotting when something isn’t right – is critical.
You’ll be part of an environment where observability, automation and actionable insights help keep important services running securely and reliably. You’ll have the opportunity to solve complex problems, challenge alert noise and improve how we detect and respond to issues.
And while the work we do is important, we still make room for fun, friendships and flexibility in our daily lives.
The Purpose
See the signal. Cut through the noise. Help us spot issues before our customers do.
As our Event Monitoring Specialist, you’ll help shape how AP+ detects, understands and responds to events across our critical technology services.
This isn’t a role where you simply watch dashboards and react to alerts.
You’ll help to re-design, evolve and continuously improve our Event Management capability – connecting monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace with ServiceNow to create cleaner, better correlated and more actionable events.
You’ll help to configure observability tools to use alerts, logs, performance metrics and service data to identify anomalies, degradation and emerging risks. Just as importantly, you’ll help turn that technical data into a clear picture of service health and business impact.
The goal? Less noise. Better signals. Faster detection. Smarter response.
Key Responsibilities the Role Owns:
- Own and optimise Event Management – design and continuously improve event rules, correlation, severity mapping, prioritisation, suppression, routing and automated workflows.
- Make monitoring smarter – integrate and optimise Dynatrace and ServiceNow to deliver accurate event ingestion and meaningful mapping to applications and business services.
- Turn noise into actionable signals – analyse alerts, logs, metrics and service data to identify anomalies, recurring issues, service degradation and emerging operational risks.
- Get ahead of incidents – validate, correlate, prioritise and escalate events so the right teams have the right diagnostic information when it matters most.
- Build visibility that drives action – create dashboards, health reporting and operational insights that give teams a clear view of service performance and support major incident detection and response.
- Automate wherever it makes sense – help advance auto-ticketing, event enrichment, correlation and remediation while working across infrastructure, application and monitoring teams to continually improve how Event Management works.
You’ll likely be a strong fit for this role if:
You’re someone who gets satisfaction from finding the signal hidden in the noise.
You’re naturally curious about what’s happening underneath the surface of a technology environment. You can look across events, alerts, logs and performance data, connect the dots and translate what you’re seeing into something teams can act on.
You’ll bring:
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow Event Management, including event rules, alert correlation and MID Server configuration.
- Strong experience with Dynatrace or similar monitoring and observability platforms, using monitoring data to identify issues and understand service performance.
- Experience working with CMDB, CI classes and service mapping relationships, and an understanding of how infrastructure and applications connect to business services.
- Strong analytical capability across alerts, logs, operational data and performance metrics, with the ability to identify patterns, anomalies and emerging risks.
- Experience within service operations, network operations, application support or service management, ideally supporting complex and business-critical technology environments.
- A continuous improvement mindset – you’re interested in automation, better correlation, cleaner data and reducing alert noise, and you can communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A relevant qualification or industry certification across technology, data analytics, service management, observability or monitoring is valuable, but equivalent practical experience matters too.
What happens next:
