Wellington | Generalist HR | ER, Recruitment & People Projects
Looking for an HR role where you can make things happen without getting buried in bureaucracy? This is a hands-on opportunity to provide practical HR advice, support leaders and improve the employee experience across a diverse New Zealand and Australian workforce.
Reporting to the HR Business Partner, you’ll be the first point of contact for Team Leaders - helping them confidently manage people matters, recruitment, performance and employee relations.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide practical advice on performance, disciplinary and ER matters
- Coach Team Leaders through day-to-day people challenges
- Manage recruitment from advertising and sourcing through to appointment
- Improve onboarding, offboarding, induction and HR processes
- Update policies, employee records and HR documentation
- Support learning, development and wellbeing initiatives
- Contribute to the wider People Strategy
- Potentially lead the people workstream for an Employment Hero implementation
What you’ll bring
- Around five years’ generalist HR experience with a relevant qualification in HR, law, business or a related field
- Confidence handling employee relations and disciplinary processes
- Strong recruitment and candidate management experience
- Working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation
- Experience with HR systems
- Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail
Most importantly, you’ll bring sound judgement, common sense and a solutions-focused approach. You’ll be comfortable having honest conversations, won’t overcomplicate things and know how to get the job done while enjoying a bit of workplace banter.
