Product Manager - Child Experience & Digital Readiness
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Product Manager for our kids smartwatch product lines to join our team and play a crucial role in developing strategic product initiatives and bringing the product lines to life. In this role, you’ll own and manage the product backlog and roadmap, collaborate with development teams to define and refine features, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality releases that meet the needs of our young users and their parents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development and Roadmap
- Contribute to the product roadmap, own and evolve product initiatives for the smartwatch, balancing fun, usability, and safety features that cater to kids and parents.
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that the development team is working on the highest-value features in alignment with the product roadmap and company goals.
- Create detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, reflecting the unique needs of children, parents, and compliance requirements.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with the Director of Product to understand the vision, strategy, and goals of the children's smartwatch product.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, marketing, and customer service teams to define product features, prioritize development, and ensure timely delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for developers to clarify requirements and resolve blockers.
- Lead product and sprint grooming sessions, ensuring the team is clear on priorities and deliverables.
- Customer Focus
- Research and gather feedback from kids, parents, educators, and other stakeholders to drive product improvements.
- Leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to deeply understand user behaviour and needs.
- Feature Testing & Validation
- Collaborate with QA, design & development to actively use, test and provide continuous feedback on the products during & after development, ensuring all features meet safety, usability, and design standards.
- Conduct user acceptance testing and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- AI-Native Product Management
- Use AI tools as a natural part of your product management workflow.
- Apply AI to accelerate research synthesis, customer feedback analysis, technical exploration, product requirements, documentation, prototyping, and communication.
- Demonstrate strong judgment in how AI can improve speed, quality, and clarity without replacing product thinking.
- Help raise the standard for how Product at Cosmo works in an AI-native environment.
- Performance Metrics
- Define and track KPIs to measure the product's success, including user engagement, customer satisfaction, and market performance.
- Use insights from data to inform decision-making, improve outcomes, and adjust priorities.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure that the product adheres to child safety standards and regulations, including data privacy and age-appropriate content guidelines.
About You:
You’re someone who’s a self-starter and results-driven individual, passionate about driving the success of a product servicing kids and families, delivering high-quality experiences that delight our customers and are eager to contribute to the growth of an innovative startup.
Must live within 1 hour of Toronto, ON for 5-6 in-person meetings in downtown Toronto.
Your Experience:
- Experience: 5-8 years of experience as a Product Manager, preferably in wearable technology, children's products, or consumer electronics.
- Skills: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and experience managing multiple product backlogs.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret data to drive product decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Creative Problem-Solver: Passionate about creating engaging, safe, and age-appropriate technology for kids.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to cross-functional teams.
- Customer-Centric: Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs and translate them into valuable product features.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with mobile and wearable technologies, as well as the unique considerations of designing products for kids.
- AI-Experience: Experience using AI tools to improve the speed and quality of product work, including research, analysis, documentation, synthesis, prototyping, or communication.
