Come and make a difference with us

At Western Bay of Plenty District Council, everything we do is about making the everyday better — and helping our communities thrive, now and into the future.

Western Bay is a District undergoing significant growth and transformation. From planning for future communities to delivering the infrastructure that supports them, we’re focused on getting the fundamentals right — and preparing for what comes next.

We’re also focused on our people. At Western Bay, we believe in investing in and empowering our teams to grow, lead, and achieve their goals. Because when our people thrive, our communities do too.

If you're motivated by making the everyday better, helping people thrive, and leaving things better than you found them — we’d love to hear from you.

The opportunity

This is a fixed term role until 30 June 2027 to backfill a secondment from the team.

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic person to be a key advisor on a wide range of policy issues and take a key role in developing the Long Term Plan. Your role will enable Council to make informed decisions and plan for a sustainable future, in partnership with its communities.

You will be involved in preparing consultation approaches and providing robust analysis of information for decision makers so that Council can develop robust plans that promote intergenerational wellbeing.

You will be an exceptional communicator, collaborator and strategic thinker. You will also have a knack for understanding complex information and competing priorities and the skill to summarise and share the key points with a range of audiences.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
