Solutions Impact Engineer
veritree and Job Overview
veritree is an award-winning climate tech start-up based in Vancouver. Launched in 2021, our technology measures and verifies the impact of global restoration efforts from the ground up. We are on a mission to plant 1 billion verified trees by 2030, collaborating with businesses, planting organizations, and consumers who believe in the transformative power of verified restoration projects to create real and meaningful impact for the planet, nature, and people.
veritree is seeking an Impact Solutions Engineer to own the commercialization of our restoration portfolio: turning every project we plant into a sales-ready package, and acting as the technical and impact expert our revenue teams bring into the room.
We have active restoration projects across the globe, each one carries real depth, identifying the purpose behind the site, whether the trees are permanent or on a managed harvest rotation, the species mix and why it was chosen, survivability and monitoring data, the workers and communities involved, and the ecosystem returning around it. We need someone who can translate project details into one canonical source of truth, packaging it into narratives, value propositions, and assets our Sales, Business Development, and Customer Success teams can actually use, and then standing behind it on live calls.
This role is a deliberate blend of product marketing, product ownership, and sales enablement. You will own the story of what we sell, not the marketing gloss, but the substantive, verifiable, layered version that wins enterprise deals. This is a storyteller's role first. You will be fluent enough in forestry, permanence, survivability, and our on-site technology to hold your own with a sustainability lead or a diligence team, but the reason we're hiring is narrative craft: the ability to make a Fortune 500 buyer feel what changes for a worker who once felled trees for income and now earns more, more securely, planting them.
12 Month Key Outcomes (12m KOs)
- Source of truth, live and trusted. One canonical project library covering 100% of active projects — purpose, permanence and harvest model, species mix, survivability, monitoring methodology, workforce and community context, ecosystem outcomes — current, maintained on an agreed cadence with Forest, and surfaced in internal materials for live call support.
- Every project sales-ready. A sales-ready package shipped for every active project: positioning, value proposition, proof points, pricing guidance, and customer-facing assets. No rep builds their own version from scratch.
- Impact story, three layers deep. A worker, community, and ecosystem narrative built and evidenced for our priority projects, backed by real data and media from veritree's technology — credible enough to survive diligence, specific enough to be memorable, and never greenwashing.
- Enablement that changes rep behaviour. Playbooks, proof-point libraries, objection handling, and training delivered so every Account Executive, Business Development Rep, and Customer Success Manager tells the same story, with adoption measured through call reviews and certification rather than assumed.
- Launch discipline. A cross-functional launch checklist and readiness standard, owned by you and adopted across Forest, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success, so nothing goes to market half-built.
What You'll Do
Source of Truth & Project Intelligence
- You will build and own veritree's canonical library of project facts — one current, authoritative reference for every project we sell, replacing the scattered documents and tribal knowledge in use today.
- You will work directly with the Forest team to turn their intake into commercially usable intelligence: project purpose, permanence versus managed harvest and rotation length, species selection and rationale, survivability and mortality data, monitoring methodology, and site-level context.
- You will keep it current, with a defined maintenance cadence, clear ownership of each input, and version control the rest of the business can rely on.
- You will make it accessible where our teams actually work, surfacing project facts in Forge and our AI tooling so a rep can get an accurate answer during a live call, not after it.
Packaging, Positioning & Pricing
- You will translate every project into a sales-ready package: the narrative, the value proposition, the proof points, and the per-project assets that make it sellable.
- You will standardize delivery into ecosystem packages — mangrove, terrestrial, wildfire, agroforestry — rather than rebuild bespoke every deal, and you will own the product catalogue.
- You will own positioning across our growing solution portfolio, so that as we move from selling a single product toward solution-selling across multiple offerings and stakeholders, the story stays coherent.
- You will partner with Revenue and Finance on per-project pricing guidance and the commercial logic behind it, ensuring reps understand not just the price but why the project is worth it.
- You will own the change-flow when a metric is updated. When survivability, planting hours, or carbon updates, you push the correction into collateral, the portal, and CS on a set cadence — and you audit what's already in market.
- You will define which projects we lead with for which segments, and build the matching logic that helps reps put the right project in front of the right buyer.
Impact Storytelling
- You will build the impact narrative at three layers, and go deeper than the category norm on each:
- The worker — what this work actually changes for the individual, including the person who once cut and sold timber to feed their family and now earns better, more secure income restoring the same landscape.
- The community — how stable, better-paying restoration work compounds into local economic resilience, and what that looks like in the specific communities we operate in.
- The ecosystem — what returns to the site: canopy, soil, water, birds, wildlife, biodiversity — and how our technology measures and verifies it.
- You will ground every layer in evidence, using veritree's existing monitoring technology, field data, and media to turn claims into proof our clients can publish and defend.
- You will partner with Marketing to convert that depth into case studies, impact reports, campaign material, and event content.
Sales Enablement
- You will turn Forest's methodologies into sales-ready material — survivability, planting hours, social impact, carbon, permanence, verification — as defensible talk tracks, proof points, and objection handling. You know the difference between a compelling claim and a defensible one, and you only ever ship the defensible one.
- You will own the enablement library for project and impact content: playbooks, proof points, objection handling, discovery guidance, and competitive framing.
- You will design and deliver training and certification so every rep across Business Development, Sales, and Customer Success can tell the story consistently and credibly.
- You will review calls, identify where the story is breaking down, and close the gap with better material and better coaching rather than more documents.
- You will run a feedback loop from the field back into packaging, so what we ship next reflects what actually lands with buyers.
Expert Support on Live Calls
- You will act as the on-call project and impact expert, joining sales and Customer Success calls to explain projects in depth to prospects and customers when a rep needs the specialist in the room.
- You will handle the questions reps can't: permanence and additionality, survivability and replanting, harvest rotation and end use, monitoring and verification methodology, species and site selection, social impact measurement.
- You will represent veritree credibly in front of sustainability, ESG, and procurement stakeholders, and support diligence when deals require it.
- You will treat every call as a diagnostic. The goal is not to be permanently required on calls — it is to notice what reps couldn't answer and turn that into material and coaching so they can next time.
- You will not own the deal, carry a quota, or run the commercial conversation. The rep owns the deal; you make the rep formidable.
Project & Product Launch
- You will own the launch checklist and cross-functional readiness for new projects and new solutions — the definition of "ready to sell" and the gate that enforces it.
- You will own each project's availability, not just its launch — taking it online when it's ready and offline when it's sold out or paused.
- You will coordinate Forest, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success through launch, so readiness is planned rather than scrambled.
- You will own the internal communication of what's new: what changed, what it means commercially, and what each team needs to do about it.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- You will sit at the seam between Forest, Product, Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Customer Success, and you will be the person all of them come to for the truth about a project.
- You will feed field and buyer insight back to Forest and Product, influencing which projects we source, how we describe them, and what our technology needs to capture next.
Professional Requirements
- Exceptional storytelling and writing ability. This is the core of the role. You can hold a room, and you can put the same idea on a page without it going flat. We will ask for writing samples and we will read them closely.
- 5-8+ years in product marketing, brand or content strategy, communications, or a comparable narrative-led role. Adjacent backgrounds are welcome — journalism, documentary, impact communications, science communication — if you can show the commercial application.
- A track record of packaging complex or technical subject matter into positioning, narratives, and assets that a sales team actually adopted — with evidence of adoption, not just delivery.
- Demonstrated sales enablement experience — building playbooks, proof-point libraries, and training programs, and measuring whether they changed rep behaviour.
- Comfort being customer-facing as the subject-matter expert: you can present with authority to an enterprise audience and hold up under informed questioning, without needing to run the commercial conversation.
- Genuine appetite for technical and scientific subject matter, and the discipline to represent it accurately. You know the difference between a compelling claim and a defensible one. You do not need a forestry background — you need to be the kind of person who will go and learn it properly.
- Experience owning cross-functional process — launch checklists, readiness gates, intake-to-market workflows — in an environment where that process didn't exist yet.
- Fluency with CRM and enablement tooling (HubSpot preferred) and a builder's instinct for using AI to make knowledge accessible at the point of need.
- Based in or able to work core hours in the PST time zone, and willing to travel to customer sites, planting sites, and the Vancouver office as required.
Personal Strengths
- A storyteller by instinct — you notice the specific detail that makes an abstract claim land, and you reach for it before the statistic.
- A builder who is comfortable creating structure, systems, and process where none exists.
- Genuinely curious about the substance — the forestry, the science, the communities — not just the pitch.
- Mission-driven, with real conviction about restoration done credibly and a low tolerance for greenwashing.
- Rigorous and detail-oriented, with the judgment to know which details matter to a buyer and which don't.
- Influences without authority: you can get Forest, Product, Marketing, and Sales moving in the same direction without owning any of them.
- Clear, direct, and calm under pressure — tech-forward and credible, never cliché.
Nice to Haves (not mandatory)
- Experience in tree planting, forestry, carbon markets, sustainability, or nature-based solutions.
- Familiarity with ESG and nature reporting frameworks (CSRD, TNFD, SBTi, CDP).
- Experience with MRV (measurement, reporting, and verification) methodologies, remote sensing, or field data collection technology.
- Background in social impact measurement or community development.
- Experience building AI-assisted knowledge bases or enablement tooling for live call support.
Why This Role
You will own the story of what veritree actually sells — and at a company whose entire premise is verified impact, that story is the product. It is a rare brief: real material to work with, twenty-plus projects and the people and ecosystems inside them, plus the data to prove every word of it. You will have the autonomy to build a function that doesn't exist yet, the access to go deep on projects most people only ever see as a line item, and the mandate to make sure the way we sell restoration is as rigorous as the way we deliver it.
