Position: Associate Data Platform Administrator

Compensation Details:
- Data Platform Administrator 15: Salaries typically range from $65,172 to $86,898 annually, based on qualifications and experience plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates under a hybrid work model, with employees currently required to work from the office two days per week. Effective September 2026, this requirement will increase to three days per week and will be implemented gradually through a phased approach based on employee location. (subject to change).
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team and Job Overview:
- The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
The Data Platform Management (DPM) team owns and operates EDC’s enterprise data platforms assuring they are secure, reliable, and ready to scale. We enable teams across Enterprise Data Operations & Technology and the business to access and use data with confidence, while continuously improving how our platforms are governed and run.
The Associate Data Platform Administrator is an early‑career to developing practitioner role focused on supporting the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of EDC’s data and analytics platforms. Working within an agile, collaborative team, this role contributes hands‑on technical effort while building foundational skills in cloud platforms, data technologies, operational excellence, and service management.
Reporting to the Manager - Data Platform Delivery, this role is ideal for individuals looking to grow a career in data platform engineering and administration through structured learning, coaching, and progressively increasing responsibility
What you will be doing:
Platform Operations & Support
- Support the design, build, configuration, and operation of cloud‑based data and analytics platforms under established standards and guidance.
- Assist with platform provisioning for analytics, reporting, and data science teams using configuration‑as‑code tools and automated processes.
- Monitor platform health, availability, and performance, responding to alerts and user‑reported issues and escalating complex problems as required.
- Perform routine fault isolation and issue resolution to minimize service disruption and maintain stable platform operations.
Analysis, Documentation & Quality
- Support the documentation of current (“as‑is”) and target (“to‑be”) platform configurations, processes, and controls.
- Conduct and support platform testing and quality control activities to ensure solutions meet defined standards and user requirements.
- Collect and analyze operational and usage information to support problem diagnosis and service improvement.
Governance, Security & Controls
- Apply established architecture, security, and operational standards when implementing and operating data platforms.
- Support the identification and remediation of platform security vulnerabilities and configuration issues, escalating risks and incidents in accordance with security and incident management procedures.
- Contribute to lifecycle management activities to ensure platforms remain secure, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Collaboration & Enablement
- Work collaboratively with product owners, engineers, architects, and other technical teams within Agile delivery frameworks.
- Advise users on approved platform services, standards, and best practices, helping them use platforms effectively and responsibly.
- Contribute to knowledge management by documenting procedures, runbooks, standards, and lessons learned.
- Support communication efforts related to data & analytics platform capabilities, processes, and updates.
Continuous Improvement & Learning
- Research and suggest incremental technical improvements to enhance platform stability, usability, and efficiency.
- Actively develop technical, operational, and collaboration skills through hands‑on experience, coaching, and formal learning opportunities.
- Seek feedback and apply lessons learned to improve performance and contribution over time.
What we are looking for:
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. (based on level and domain)
- 2+ years of experience in IT system administration, platform support, or a related technical role in a similar domain
- Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes such as incident, change, and request management.
- Exposure to Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
- Familiarity with deployment orchestration, automation, or configuration management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Git).
What will make you stand out:
- Experience working in Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Exposure to data and analytics technologies such as Power BI, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Denodo, or SQL Server / Oracle.
- Familiarity with Azure services such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Automation.
- Bilingualism in English and French.
