Lyst is a global fashion shopping platform founded in London in 2010 and catering to over 160M shoppers per year. We offer our customers the largest assortment of premium and luxury fashion products in one place, curating pieces from 27,000 of the world's leading brands and stores. In 2025, Lyst joined Zozo, operators of Zozotown, the leading fashion e-commerce platform in Japan. This partnership marks a bold new era for Lyst, as we accelerate our vision and work together to transform the future of fashion shopping through AI and technology.

At Lyst, we obsess over the customer, providing a search and discovery experience which offers inspiration, fulfilment, and personalisation. We believe that fashion is amazing but shopping for fashion often isn't, and we use our technology, data and creativity to bring more joy, greater choice and fewer fails. Our mission is to help fashion shoppers make better decisions and help fashion partners find better audiences as the category-leading destination for every fashion shopper.

The Role:

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Platform squad within the Data & Infrastructure tribe at Lyst. We’re responsible for building, maintaining and scaling the system infrastructure that handles tens of millions of requests a day, ensuring its security and reliability, and delivering a first-class developer experience to the internal teams that interact with the platform daily.

You’ll work as part of a close-knit, collaborative team to help our platform continuously evolve to stay at the forefront of Platform Engineering best practices, responding to and embracing the risks and opportunities presented by AI-assisted and fully-agentic engineering advancements, adapting to ever-changing security landscapes, and helping our business to move faster, safely.

For our engineers, we aim to provide the best deployment experience, the greatest visibility into application and service performance, and the best ways of managing and maintaining the services for which they are responsible. Our platform team members engage directly with engineers across the business as customers to understand what’s slowing them down, what tooling they need, and how we can best help them to focus on delivering the product at Lyst.

For our external customers, we aim to provide a fast, reliable experience, serving millions of images and terabytes of data every day across multiple continents. Our platform engineers have a meticulous attention to detail, working hard to understand all our key metrics and networking intricacies, spotting issues that may be causing a bad experience for our customers, and proactively driving forward solutions and optimisations.

What will you be working on?

  • Deployment: Orchestrating Terraform, Docker and GitHub to enable our engineers to deploy the code for our 200+ applications, services and APIs
  • Automation: Managing systems programmatically and building tooling to enable engineers to manage their infrastructure, metrics and code declaratively; providing a simple, consistent experience that lets them focus on product value
  • Scale: Bringing Lyst to a billion requests per month, using Cloudflare, AWS and Kubernetes to run Lyst at a huge, distributed scale efficiently
  • Monitoring and alerting: Measuring application performance and delivering insights, metrics and relevant alerts to the engineering teams with ELK, Grafana and New Relic
  • Ownership: Driving engineering teams to own their infrastructure and costs by building great tooling, visibility and documentation
  • Security: Setting the standards for fine-grained access to systems and applications to allow automated access control and support auditing requirements

How will you achieve this?

  • Autonomy: You’ll be empowered to work under your own initiative, and will be an active participant in making the choices which move the platform forward - the Lyst values encourage trust and a focus on impact
  • Mentoring: You’ll work alongside and be mentored by other engineers within the team, and eventually support new joiners yourself. You’ll collaborate with the wider engineering organisation to encourage feedback and ideas, and advocate for and encourage adoption of platform capabilities
  • Process: You’ll contribute to improvements to team organisation and processes, help to document processes and responsibilities, engage with the strategic direction of the tribe, and help deliver upon the roadmaps that achieve this progress

These are some of the key attributes relevant to this role, but this is by no means exhaustive, and we do not expect any single candidate to necessarily possess all of the experience below. If this is the kind of role profile that excites you, and you feel you can bring valuable experience to it even if it’s not an exact match, please get in touch.

We are committed to treating all applicants fairly and equally, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply for this role. We are happy to talk about flexible working arrangements.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Lyst we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
