OFCI Manager – Data Centre

The Role

Designer Group is seeking an experienced OFCI Manager (Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed) to join our Data Centre delivery team, supporting the delivery of a major mission-critical project.

This is a key site-based role responsible for coordinating the complete lifecycle of client-supplied / owner-furnished M&E equipment, ensuring critical equipment is delivered, installed, integrated, commissioned and handed over safely and in line with the project programme.

You will act as the key interface between Designer Group, the client, equipment vendors/OEMs, subcontractors, engineering, construction, logistics, QA/QC and commissioning teams.

This opportunity will suit an experienced M&E project, package or equipment manager who understands the challenges of delivering complex vendor equipment packages within fast-paced data centre, mission-critical or large-scale technical construction environments.

About Designer Group

Designer Group is a leading international mechanical and electrical provider delivering innovative, high-quality M&E solutions for some of the world's largest organisations.

Our teams deliver complex projects across the Data Centre, Building Services, Energy and Industrial sectors, combining strong technical capability with a practical approach to project delivery.

Our continued international growth creates opportunities for our people to work on major projects, develop their careers and take on increasing levels of responsibility within the Group.

What You’ll Do

As OFCI Manager, you will:

  • Manage the end-to-end coordination of Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment packages.
  • Act as the primary interface between the client, Designer Group project team, OEMs, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Maintain and manage the project OFCI equipment tracker, including manufacturing status, FAT dates, shipping, delivery, installation and commissioning milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment required-on-site dates against the construction and commissioning programme.
  • Monitor vendor manufacturing and delivery programmes, identifying potential delays or constraints before they impact site activities.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) requirements and vendor documentation where applicable.
  • Work closely with engineering and design teams to ensure equipment interfaces, technical requirements, drawings and installation information are fully coordinated.
  • Ensure areas are ready for equipment installation, including access, builders' works, containment, cabling, pipework, controls and associated M&E interfaces.
  • Coordinate site logistics including delivery planning, offloading, lifting, movement, storage and positioning of major equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected on arrival and that any damage, shortages, quality issues or non-conformances are recorded and resolved.
  • Coordinate installation activities with project managers, construction managers, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist vendors.
  • Manage technical and contractual interfaces between vendor scope, client scope and Designer Group installation responsibilities.
  • Support commissioning teams with vendor attendance, energisation, start-up, testing, SAT and integrated systems testing requirements.
  • Track and resolve OFCI-related RFIs, technical queries, defects, snags and outstanding actions.
  • Provide clear progress reporting on equipment status, programme risks, vendor performance and critical constraints.
  • Support the completion of commissioning records, technical documentation and turnover packages ahead of project handover.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with Designer Group's EHS, quality and project delivery standards.

What We’re Looking For

You will ideally have:

  • Strong experience delivering M&E construction projects, preferably within the data centre or mission-critical sector.
  • Previous experience managing OFCI, owner-supplied equipment, vendor packages or major M&E equipment packages.
  • Experience working with equipment manufacturers, OEMs and specialist vendors.
  • Strong understanding of the delivery lifecycle from design and manufacturing through FAT, logistics, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Good technical understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services systems.
  • Experience coordinating complex interfaces between clients, contractors, vendors and project delivery teams.
  • Strong programme awareness with the ability to identify and manage risks to critical equipment delivery dates.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence managing multiple equipment packages simultaneously.
  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Construction Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.

We are also interested in experienced construction professionals who have developed their expertise through practical M&E project delivery and vendor/package management.
