Transport Analyst / Modeller: Consultant/Senior Consultant
Steer’s Feasibility design & Case making practice is seeking to expand our successful transport modelling and analytical offer through recruitment of a modeller and/or analyst to join our mainly London-based team to deliver a broad portfolio of projects.
The team work together to help clients deliver some of the highest profile transport and development projects in the UK and overseas. This includes supporting clients to deliver multi-modal highway schemes across London, Manchester, Oxfordshire and internationally.
The Traffic Modeller & Analyst role will primarily involve supporting senior staff to deliver a broad range of traffic modelling and analysis-based studies using microsimulation (vissim), local junction (LinSig, Junctions) and tactical level modelling tools (VISUM, Aimsun). This includes providing technical input throughout the lifecycle of a project from the proposal stage through to delivery, thus contributing to the continued growth of the business.
An ability to think critically and develop bespoke analysis through use of AI tools, excel, R, Python or similar programming languages would also be an advantage.
The analysis you produce will feed into the development of sustainable, multi-modal highways solutions and so an awareness of such design considerations would also be an advantage. You will have the opportunity to support a range of projects such as bus priority and cycle improvement schemes which will range from feasibility to detailed design stages. You will also support the team by providing analysis relating to operation of mixed use developments on aspects as wide ranging as pedestrian comfort levels, servicing capacity and traffic management requirements.
Our workload and company ethos allow you to forge your career in the direction that best suits you. We will support your growth and development in modelling / analysis or both depending on your preferences. We will provide you with both the opportunities and a personal supervisor and technical guidance to help your career flourish.
You will work as part of a team providing solutions to both private and public sector clients. This position requires an enthusiastic, hard-working person, who wants to be part of our growing, dynamic team and in this role, you will be required to:
· Provide analytical input and undertake multi-modal modelling assessments with support from our Lead modellers.
· Lead work streams within projects with supervision, ensuring that best practice techniques are applied consistently.
· Deliver high quality highway and transportation analysis as part of multi-disciplinary teams across a range of transport related projects including major developments, highway related regeneration projects and sustainable transport initiatives.
· Manage, sub consultants and support staff assigned on a project basis as required.
· Take responsibility to deliver key tasks on a range of projects.
· Prepare and present reports, proposals, briefing notes and design reports.
· Manage project budgets exercising effective financial and budgetary control.
· Take part in training to develop both your technical and consultancy skills.
To be successful in the role, you will:
· Be comfortable working in creative multi-disciplinary teams and provide positive contributions in resolving complex design problems.
· Take responsibility for key tasks and workstreams.
· Demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Hold relevant academic qualifications or professional experience.
Experience in the use of commercial off the shelf transport modelling software packages such as LINSIG, VISSIM, TRANSYT would be an advantage but this role would suit anyone with an analytical mindset.
For our UK applicants, we offer a competitive package of benefits including private medical insurance and health screening, life assurance, group income protection, company pension scheme, EAP, ability to buy and sell annual leave days, Season Ticket Loan, a group Share Incentive Plan, up to 5 days for volunteering activities and a discretionary bonus scheme based on annual compensation (dependent upon individual and company performance).
