Bid & Marketing Coordinator
About Bridges
Bridges Electrical Engineers is an established and growing engineering business delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across the UK water and wider infrastructure sectors.
Founded in 1973, we remain a privately owned family business with a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaboration and long-term client relationships. Our purpose is to engineer sustainable assets which our valued customers are proud to own and operate.
Our culture is built around three simple values:
Safe People | Happy People | Sustainable Business
As our business and client portfolio continue to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Bid & Marketing Coordinator to join our team and play an important role in helping Bridges win new work, communicate our capabilities and strengthen our brand.
The Role
This is a varied and highly visible role combining bid management, bid writing, marketing, communications and digital content creation.
A significant part of the role will involve coordinating major framework and tender submissions. You will take ownership of the bid programme, coordinate contributions from across the business, help develop compelling written responses and ensure that every submission represents Bridges at its very best.
Alongside bidding, you will support the development and delivery of Bridges' internal and external marketing activities, including social media, website content, brochures, capability statements, presentations, case studies, internal communications and promotional materials.
The successful candidate will therefore need to combine excellent organisation and project management with strong written communication and a creative eye.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a broad role where they can see the direct impact of their work on the continued success and growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Management & Coordination
- Project manage framework bids, tenders, PQQs and other strategic submissions from initial opportunity through to final submission.
- Develop and maintain clear bid programmes, submission schedules and responsibility matrices.
- Review tender documentation and identify key requirements, deliverables, deadlines and evaluation criteria.
- Coordinate contributions from operational, engineering, commercial, SHEQ, HR and senior leadership teams.
- Arrange and facilitate bid kick-off meetings, progress reviews and final submission reviews.
- Proactively chase actions and information to ensure submissions remain on programme.
- Manage tender portals, document control and submission requirements.
- Ensure all tender responses are compliant, professionally presented and submitted on time.
- Support post-tender clarification responses, presentations and client interviews where required.
- Maintain accurate records of current and forthcoming bidding opportunities.
Bid Writing & Content Development
- Write, edit and coordinate high-quality tender responses which clearly communicate Bridges' strengths and differentiators.
- Translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive and client-focused responses.
- Work with subject matter experts to draw out evidence, examples and measurable outcomes.
- Challenge contributors constructively to improve the quality of responses.
- Ensure responses directly address client questions, scoring criteria and stated priorities.
- Review submissions for clarity, consistency, grammar, accuracy and overall quality.
- Help develop win themes, key messages and differentiators for strategic opportunities.
- Maintain and continuously improve a structured library of tender responses, case studies, project examples, CVs, statistics and supporting evidence.
- Capture lessons learned and feedback following submissions to continually improve our bidding approach.
- Our objective is not simply to submit compliant tenders, but to produce winning, class-leading bids that clearly demonstrate why clients should choose Bridges.
Marketing & Communications
- Support the development and delivery of Bridges' marketing and communications activities.
- Produce professional marketing materials including brochures, capability statements, case studies, advertisements, presentations, exhibition materials and client communications.
- Develop content which showcases our projects, people, innovation, manufacturing capability and engineering expertise.
- Support internal communications including employee campaigns, company announcements and engagement initiatives.
- Work with colleagues across the business to identify good news stories and opportunities to promote Bridges.
- Help maintain consistency of the Bridges brand across all communications and marketing materials.
- Support exhibitions, conferences, client events and industry awards where required.
Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Create engaging content for Bridges' social media channels, particularly LinkedIn.
- Develop a forward-looking social media and content schedule.
- Write social media copy and create supporting artwork and graphics.
- Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to increase the reach and effectiveness of our content.
- Help tell the stories behind our projects and, importantly, the people who make them happen.
- Maintain an appropriate balance between technical, client, people, community and business content.
Website Management
- Maintain and update the Bridges website using WordPress.
- Upload new project case studies, news articles, vacancies and company information.
- Ensure website content remains accurate, relevant and consistent with the Bridges brand.
- Identify opportunities to improve website content and user experience.
- Work with external website specialists where more significant technical changes are required.
Design & Creative Content
- Create professional artwork and marketing materials using Canva and other appropriate design tools.
- Produce graphics for social media, presentations, internal communications, exhibitions and client-facing materials.
- Maintain templates and brand consistency across the business.
- Support colleagues in improving the visual quality of presentations and client communications.
- Manage and organise Bridges' library of photography, graphics and marketing assets.
What We're Looking For
- We are looking for someone who is naturally organised, creative and curious, with the confidence to work with people at all levels of the organisation.
- You will ideally have:
- Experience in bid coordination, bid writing, marketing, communications or a similar role.
- Excellent written English and the ability to produce clear, persuasive and engaging content.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- The confidence to coordinate multiple contributors and manage deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Canva or similar creative/design software.
- Experience updating websites, ideally using WordPress.
- An understanding of social media content creation, particularly LinkedIn.
- The ability to understand technical information and communicate it clearly to a non-technical audience.
- A positive and proactive approach with the confidence to suggest new ideas and challenge existing ways of doing things.
- The ability to manage several priorities simultaneously without compromising quality.
Why Join Bridges?
This role provides the opportunity to become involved in some of the most important activities within a successful and growing engineering business.
You will work closely with senior leaders, engineers, project teams and our clients, gaining a broad understanding of both Bridges and the UK water and infrastructure sector.
You will have genuine scope to influence how we present ourselves to our clients, our employees and the wider industry.
We want someone who will not simply administer our bids and marketing activities, but who will help us continually raise the standard of both.
For the right individual, the role also offers significant opportunity for professional development as Bridges continues to grow.
Experience within engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure or another technical B2B environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Previous experience of public-sector or utility framework bidding would also be particularly valuable.
The Person
The right person for this role will be someone who enjoys variety.
One day you may be coordinating a strategically important framework submission involving senior managers and technical specialists. The next you could be interviewing an engineer about an innovative project, creating a case study, updating our website or producing content celebrating the achievements of our people.
You will be:
- A strong communicator – able to build relationships and get the information you need.
- A good writer – able to turn information into compelling, concise content.
- Highly organised – comfortable managing deadlines, actions and multiple workstreams.
- Creative – interested in how words, images and design work together.
- Commercially aware – understanding that successful marketing and bidding ultimately support business growth.
- Curious – willing to learn about our engineering solutions, projects, clients and industry.
- Quality focused – with high standards and an eye for detail.
- A team player – comfortable working collaboratively across the entire business.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to Safe People, Happy People and Sustainable Business.
