Job Purpose

We are looking for a Dietitian (Band 5 equivalent), with the ability to operate as an autonomous registered practitioner to deliver evidence-based dietetic assessment, behaviour change support and nutritional management for adults living with obesity and related long-term conditions.

Working within established clinical pathways, the post holder manages a delegated caseload of patients across Roczen programmes, providing holistic dietetic care, undertaking clinical assessments, developing individualised care plans and monitoring patient progress. They exercise professional judgement within their scope of practice, recognising when patients require escalation to a Senior Dietitian, doctor or wider multidisciplinary team.

The role combines high-quality clinical care with strong clinical governance, accurate documentation and collaborative working to support the delivery of safe, effective and scalable digital obesity services.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Clinical Care

  • Undertake comprehensive dietetic assessments and formulate personalised nutrition care plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based nutrition and behaviour change interventions for adults living with obesity.
  • Conduct onboarding consultations and routine follow-up appointments for allocated patients.
  • Monitor nutritional intake, weight, clinical outcomes and patient-reported measures.
  • Review treatment progress and adapt nutritional interventions within agreed clinical pathways.
  • Support patients prescribed GLP-1 therapies by assessing nutritional adequacy, treatment tolerability and adherence.
  • Make protocol-based recommendations regarding medication titration, maintenance or de-escalation for prescriber review where appropriate.
  • Identify patients requiring more specialist intervention and escalate appropriately.

2. Clinical Decision Making and Patient Safety

  • Practise autonomously within HCPC standards and organisational clinical governance frameworks.
  • Recognise deterioration, safeguarding concerns, red flags and complex clinical presentations requiring escalation.
  • Seek timely senior advice where patient complexity exceeds own competence or delegated scope.
  • Contribute to safe prescribing through accurate assessment and clear clinical recommendations.
  • Maintain professional accountability for clinical decisions made within own scope of practice.

3. Documentation and Clinical Governance

  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation for every patient interaction.
  • Produce clear clinical records that support continuity of care and prescribing decisions.
  • Adhere to all clinical governance, safeguarding, information governance and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in clinical audit, peer review, competency assessment and quality improvement activities.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of patient safety across the service.

4. MDT Working and Service Delivery

  • Work collaboratively with Senior Dietitians, Dietetic Assistant Practitioners, Doctors, Nurses, Behaviour Change Specialists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in MDT discussions and contribute to shared decision making.
  • Manage an allocated caseload effectively, balancing clinical activity with administration and governance responsibilities.
  • Support efficient service delivery through effective diary management and prioritisation of workload.
  • Contribute positively to service development and continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Professional Development

  • Maintain HCPC registration and practise in accordance with the HCPC Standards of Proficiency and Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics.
  • Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice and appraisal.
  • Complete mandatory training and maintain competence across all required clinical pathways.
  • Continue developing knowledge in obesity management, lifestyle medicine, behaviour change and GLP-1 therapies.
  • Contribute to the learning and support of newer members of the clinical team where appropriate.

Essential:

  • BSc (Hons) or MSc in Dietetics (or recognised equivalent qualification).
  • HCPC registration as a Dietitian.
  • Experience undertaking dietetic assessment and delivering nutrition interventions.
  • Experience delivering patient education and behaviour change support.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Compassionate, professional and patient-centred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrates sound professional judgement and accountability.
  • Works independently whilst recognising own limitations.
  • Committed to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development.

  • Sound knowledge of nutrition, obesity management and behaviour change principles.
  • Understanding of obesity as a chronic, multifactorial disease and the principles of long-term weight management.
  • Understanding of GLP-1/incretin therapies, their nutritional implications and common side effects.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, clinical governance, consent and information governance.
  • Ability to undertake autonomous dietetic assessment, care planning and review.
  • Excellent communication, clinical documentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage an independent caseload and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and behaviour change techniques.
  • Experience of digital healthcare systems and virtual consultations.

Schedule:

  • Full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Our service runs Monday - Saturday, 0800 - 2000, working hours and pattern will be subjected to service needs
