Business Development Representative I
About HSI
HSI is a global leader in EHS and compliance training, workforce development, and workplace safety solutions. Our suite of brands and products empower organizations to create safer, smarter, and more compliant workplaces. With innovative technology and a passion for protecting people and businesses, we are growing rapidly across the EMEA region — and we want you to grow with us.
The Role
We are looking for a Business Development Representative (BDR) who thrives on outbound prospecting. This is a purely outbound sales development role — your focus will be identifying, engaging, and creating opportunities with new prospects across the UK and Ireland. Our solutions are more complex than transactional SaaS, requiring detailed, discovery-driven cold calls with mid-senior stakeholders.
You’ll be the first point of contact with potential customers, sparking conversations, building relationships, and booking qualified meetings that fuel our sales pipeline. If you’re resilient, curious, and motivated by results, this role gives you the chance to make a direct impact and grow your career in SaaS sales.
What You'll Do
- Prospect Relentlessly: Research, identify, and reach out to new accounts across target industries.
- Outbound Outreach: Drive high-volume, high-quality prospecting through calls, email sequences, LinkedIn outreach, and event follow-up.
- Book Qualified Meetings: Uncover needs, qualify prospects, and schedule discovery calls and demos for Account Executives.
- Build Trust Early: Develop rapport with decision-makers, positioning HSI as a trusted partner for EHS and compliance solutions.
- Leverage Tools & Data: Use Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and intent data to prioritize and personalize outreach.
- Nurture & Re-Engage: Keep prospects engaged over time, re-ignite old opportunities, and create momentum in the pipeline.
- Collaborate with Sales & Marketing: Partner closely with AEs and Field Marketing to maximize campaign success and accelerate deals.
- Stay Organized & Accountable: Log all activities and progress in Salesforce to ensure accurate tracking and smooth handoffs.
Must-Have:
- Minimum 2 years in outbound-focused Sales Development, Business Development, or similar role in B2B SaaS.
- Be legally eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
- Preferred:
- Experience in the EHS / compliance / safety technology industry.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; confident in engaging senior stakeholders.
- Resilient and competitive — energized by building pipeline from scratch.
- Curious and consultative, with the ability to ask smart questions and uncover pain points.
- Proficient in Salesforce and familiar with sales engagement platforms.
- Motivated by activity and opportunity targets, with a track record of exceeding goals.
- Impact: Drive growth and shape the future of HSI in the UK & Ireland.
- Career Growth: Clear progression path into Account Executive and senior sales roles.
- Training & Enablement: Ongoing sales, product, and industry training to support your success.
- Culture: Collaborative, supportive, and high-energy team environment.
- Purpose: Contribute to safer, healthier, and more compliant workplaces worldwide.
As well as:
- Bupa Private Health Insurance & Rewards
- Hybrid and flexible working
- Enhanced family leave benefits
- Tuition assistance and professional development funding
- Your birthday off every year
- 25+ days annual leave, increasing with service
- Mental health and wellbeing support through Wisdom EAP
- A collaborative culture with regular team events
