Senior Risk Manager (Financial Risk)
Our mission is to enable everyone to build wealth.
We reinvent how trading and investing work by creating exceptional products people love. Fostering a culture of excellence and high velocity is the key to our success.
Over the past few years, our client base has grown 20 times to over 4 million, and client assets have grown over 50 times to over €5 billion.
Role Overview
The Senior Risk Manager (Financial Risk) will provide an independent second line of defence oversight, challenge and assurance over the Firm's financial risk profile, with a particular focus on liquidity risk, market risk and counterparty credit risk. You will play a key role in ensuring the ICARA process and Wind-Down Plan are robust, appropriately challenged and effectively embedded, working closely with Treasury, Trading and Finance first line teams. This role requires deep technical expertise in financial risk management, prudential regulation and capital/liquidity adequacy within an FCA-regulated investment firm.
What you'll do
Provide independent second line oversight, challenge and assurance over the Firm's liquidity risk, market risk and counterparty credit risk exposures, ensuring these remain within Board-approved risk appetite.
Own and continuously enhance the 2LOD monitoring framework for liquidity risk, covering funding risk, market liquidity risk, intra-day liquidity risk, settlement risk, foreign currency position risk and liquidity concentration risk.
Understand and challenge Group wide market risk exposures including interest rate risk, FX risk, trading risk, asset concentration risk and the Firm's exposure to extreme market events.
Oversee and challenge the Firm's counterparty credit risk framework, including credit processing and aggregation risk, credit appetite and policy, and the identification of emerging credit risks and adverse counterparty trends.
Provide second line input into the ICARA process, ensuring liquidity adequacy and capital adequacy risks are appropriately identified, quantified and stressed, and providing credible challenge to first line methodologies and assumptions.
Ensure the Wind-Down Plan is fit for purpose, appropriately triggered via early warning indicators, and regularly tested, challenged and updated in line with regulatory expectations.
Oversee and challenge liquidity stress testing and scenario analysis, including severe but plausible and reverse stress test scenarios, to assess resilience under stressed conditions.
Review and challenge the effectiveness of first line risk management performed by Treasury and intr-Group Trading entities/ functions, including the design of liquidity buffers, trading limits and counterparty credit limits.
Support the identification and enhancement of quantitative and qualitative risk appetite measures for financial risk, ensuring appropriate tracking, escalation and remediation of breaches.
Deliver periodic independent 2LOD assurance through thematic reviews and deep dives into Treasury operations and counterparty exposure management.
Maintain oversight of relevant financial risk registers, ensuring risks are appropriately identified, assessed and tracked to resolution.
Provide second line risk review and challenge for new products, trading venues, asset classes and strategic initiatives that could materially affect the Firm's liquidity, market or counterparty credit risk profile.
Support ongoing monitoring of early warning indicators and contribute to Recovery and Resolution planning where relevant.
Foster a healthy risk culture, promoting risk management as a universal responsibility and encouraging open, transparent discussion of financial risk issues without fear of retaliation.
What you need to have
Extensive experience in liquidity risk, market risk and/or counterparty credit risk management, ideally within an FCA-regulated investment firm, broker or trading platform.
Strong working knowledge of the FCA's MIFIDPRU framework, including the ICARA process, liquidity adequacy assessment and Wind-Down Planning.
Solid understanding of Treasury functions, including funding, liquidity buffer management and collateral management.
Understanding of counterparty credit risk assessment methodologies, including exposure aggregation, credit appetite setting and counterparty due diligence.
Proven second line of defence experience, with the ability to provide credible, evidence-based challenge to first line stakeholders including Treasury, Trading and Finance.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience of stress testing and scenario analysis.
Effective communication and report-writing skills, with experience presenting to senior management and Board-level committees.
Experience with Recovery and Resolution Planning is highly desirable.
Proficiency in risk management tools and software.
