Opportunity
Are you an experienced production professional who enjoys leading from the front, supporting others and getting stuck into the day-to-day operation?
We’re looking for Team Leaders to join our Operations team at our Tannochside site. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this is a hands-on role where you’ll work alongside the team on the production floor while also taking responsibility for helping coordinate and supervise activities during your shift.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be managing from the sidelines. You’ll be actively involved in the operation, leading by example and stepping in to support production when required, while making sure the team is working safely, efficiently and to our high standards of quality and hygiene.
As a Team Leader, you’ll develop a strong understanding of the processes, procedures and equipment within your area and will be a key point of support for colleagues throughout the shift.
Shift Pattern
The role will initially operate on a two-week rotating shift pattern:
- Early Shift: 6am to 2:30pm
- Back Shift: 2:30pm to 10:30pm
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Taking a hands-on role within production, working alongside and supporting the team to deliver the shift plan.
- Leading and supervising production activity during your shift, ensuring production, quality and hygiene standards are achieved.
- Supporting and motivating colleagues to deliver against team and departmental objectives.
- Deputising for the Shift Manager when required.
- Supporting the induction, training and development of new and existing team members.
- Ensuring safe working practices, procedures and Health & Safety requirements are understood and followed.
- Helping to optimise staffing and resources to support an efficient production operation.
- Working closely with Engineering and Planning to maximise equipment availability and efficiency.
- Identifying minor equipment or process issues and escalating these appropriately.
- Monitoring performance against departmental KPIs and identifying opportunities to continuously improve the way we work.
- Using our ERP and other computerised systems to support stock control and day-to-day production activities.
- Ensuring production and packaging areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, following our “clean as you go” approach and maintaining audit-ready standards.
- Supporting quality processes, including non-conformance and audit requirements.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Operations, Technical, Quality, Distribution and Engineering, so building positive working relationships across the site will be an important part of the role.
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility but who is equally happy to roll up their sleeves and work alongside the team when needed.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Previous experience working within a busy production or manufacturing environment, with FMCG experience preferred.
- Previous experience of leading, supervising or supporting others would be advantageous.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to support production activities as part of the wider team.
- A good understanding of Health & Safety standards and safe working practices.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with the confidence to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Confidence using computerised systems; experience of ERP or stock management systems would be advantageous.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and respond to issues effectively.
- The ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and remain organised in a busy environment.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- The ability to motivate and support others while leading by example.
- A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to look for better ways of working.
- A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to changing operational priorities.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who can be a positive presence on shift – someone who leads from the front, gets involved and supports the team, while taking responsibility for ensuring the operation runs safely and effectively.
