Help shape a new publishing product, from its first user journeys and visual identity through to launch.

CoEditor is the technology arm of OQS Media, a software business within the group. We work with our own platforms and other publishers to develop innovative solutions for the publishing industry.

We’re looking for a talented midweight Product Designer with strong UI and UX skills, good product instincts, and the initiative to turn an early idea into a useful, beautifully designed product.

Working directly with the CEO and alongside developers, you’ll own the design from start to finish. You’ll help define what we build, how it works, and how it looks, while helping keep the project moving towards launch.

This is an opportunity for a designer who enjoys taking responsibility beyond the design file. Your main strength will be design, supported by the organisation and communication skills to help coordinate delivery and make practical decisions about priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Work directly with the CEO to translate the product vision into clear user journeys, prototypes, and designs.
  • Understand the needs of publishers and their users, using research and feedback to inform your decisions.
  • Develop the product’s visual identity and carry it consistently through the interface.
  • Own the UI and UX, creating intuitive, accessible experiences with strong attention to detail.
  • Build and maintain a practical design system as the product develops.
  • Help shape the initial product scope, challenge unnecessary complexity, and identify what matters most for launch.
  • Work closely with developers to explain designs, address constraints, and review implementation.
  • Help coordinate priorities, milestones, and feedback so the project keeps moving.
  • Refine the product through testing, launch feedback, and ongoing use.

You’ll have meaningful ownership of a new product, direct access to the CEO, and the chance to see your work through from concept to launch. It’s a role for someone who wants to grow their influence across both design and product development.

  • A portfolio demonstrating strong UI design, thoughtful UX, and your contribution to real digital products.
  • Experience taking designs from an initial brief through to development and delivery.
  • Confidence with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools.
  • The ability to create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interface designs.
  • A strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, layout, and consistency.
  • An understanding of accessibility and usability principles.
  • The ability to explain your design decisions and balance user needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with the CEO and collaborate closely with developers.
  • A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently, bring clarity to an open brief, and take ownership of the next steps.
  • An interest in shaping product priorities and helping coordinate delivery alongside your design responsibilities.

Desirable

  • Experience with publishing, media, SaaS, or workflow tools.
  • Experience helping manage a digital product or project, including priorities, milestones, and developer handover.
  • Experience developing a product’s visual identity and building design systems.
  • Experience conducting user research or usability testing.
  • Salary dependent on experience.
  • 5% Employer Contribution Pension Scheme.
  • Generous Holiday Allowance with 25 days holiday per calendar year + birthday holiday bonus + Bank Holiday Leave
  • All staff receive generous discounts at our Company restaurant, as well as free breakfast and fruit
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Interest free season ticket loan
