via Workable

CEL is an Irish-based manufacturer, distributor, and exporter of electrical switchgear, controls, and related products and services, with a 40-year track record, focused on supplying the global data centre industry.

Operating from Ireland and in support of our 400,000 sq ft of manufacturing capacity in Williamsburg, Virginia, we aim to double in size each year for the next three years.

CEL is led by a hard-working team who value collaboration, continuous improvement, excellence in quality, and commercial curiosity. Building on this foundation, CEL is enhancing its overall business systems landscape with the goal of an integrated architecture inclusive of AI.

Through this role, you will ensure CEL continues to build on our reputation for manufacturing the best quality switchgear, with support systems that exceed our customers' expectations.

About the Role

CEL Critical Power designs and manufactures low-voltage switchgear and critical power distribution solutions for data centres and mission-critical facilities. As we continue to scale globally, we are creating a new role to lead the adoption and integration of AI across the business.

The AI Integration Lead will build this capability from the ground up, identifying where AI can deliver meaningful business value across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Tendering, Projects, and Finance, then working with stakeholders to embed those solutions into everyday operations.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable developing an AI roadmap for senior leadership as they are working directly with teams to design automations, improve workflows, integrate AI technologies, and drive adoption. Success in this role will require a blend of technical understanding, business acumen, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to turn emerging technologies into measurable business outcomes.

You will play a central role in helping CEL leverage AI to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, knowledge management, customer experience, and long-term competitiveness across its international operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and own CEL's AI adoption roadmap, identifying, prioritising, and delivering high-value AI initiatives across the organisation.
  • Identify, scope, pilot, and scale AI use cases across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Projects, Sales, Tendering, Finance, and other key functions.
  • Integrate AI capabilities with core business systems, including ERP, CAD/PLM, CRM, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, software vendors, and external partners to support data integration, system architecture, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Establish governance frameworks for responsible AI usage, including data privacy, intellectual property protection, security, compliance, and model risk management.
  • Build AI literacy across the organisation through training programmes, awareness initiatives, and the development of AI champions and super-users.
  • Develop adoption metrics and reporting frameworks to demonstrate business impact and user engagement.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with AI vendors, technology providers, and implementation partners.
  • Support engineering and product teams in exploring AI-enabled product and service innovations, including predictive maintenance, analytics, and intelligent infrastructure solutions.
  • Stay informed on emerging AI trends, technologies, and use cases that could create competitive advantage for CEL.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience in digital transformation, automation, data, AI, machine learning, or related technology-focused roles.
  • At least 2 years' experience delivering AI or intelligent automation solutions into production environments.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, energy, or operational environments.
  • Practical experience with modern AI technologies, including large language models (LLMs), AI APIs, workflow automation, document retrieval solutions, and low-code automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and enterprise business processes, including how master data, transactions, reporting, and operational workflows interact.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for technology-driven process improvement and business transformation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience leading change management, user adoption, or training initiatives for new technologies.
  • Strong understanding of data protection, confidentiality, security, and responsible AI principles.
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to CEL Critical Power locations when required.

Desirable

  • Experience within switchgear, electrical distribution, critical power, data centre, or related industrial sectors.
  • Experience applying AI within engineering design, CAD automation, drawing intelligence, or engineering workflows.
  • Experience with predictive and operational analytics, or industrial AI use cases.
  • Experience developing data platforms, business intelligence environments, Power BI solutions, or MLOps capabilities.
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with ERP, CRM, CAD, PLM, Microsoft 365, or other enterprise systems.
  • Exposure to SAP environments and ERP-driven business processes.
