Intelance helps organisations make practical decisions about technology, costs and change. We are looking for a freelance Principal Enterprise Architect to lead detailed architecture work within financial services assessments. You will work directly with Intelance’s engagement partner, who remains accountable for the overall engagement.
The work connects business systems, data, Microsoft services, cloud hosting and delivery responsibilities. Assignments may involve around 16 days across an eight week assessment. Scope and days are agreed for each assignment. Primarily remote within the UK, with occasional client meetings agreed in advance.
Tasks
- Review application inventories, architecture diagrams and existing technology assessments.
- Interview technology and business owners and test the evidence behind their current setup.
- Map key systems, data flows, dependencies and ownership.
- Develop practical future architecture and compare delivery options.
- Estimate the work, costs and dependencies behind proposed changes.
- Write clear findings and recommendations for technology leaders and executive audiences.
Requirements
- Experience leading enterprise architecture assessments in financial services or a closely related regulated environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, data platforms and system integration.
- Able to connect technical choices with business priorities, supplier arrangements and cost.
- Experience producing both current state maps and practical future designs.
- Clear writing and confident discussion with senior business and technology leaders.
- Pensions administration experience is useful but not essential. TOGAF or equivalent practical architecture experience is welcome.
Benefits
- £750 to £875 per day, depending on relevant experience. Rates exclude VAT where applicable. Contracting route and tax status will be confirmed before an assignment is agreed.
- Direct work with Intelance’s engagement partner and access to specialist support.
- Defined assessment outputs and flexible working days.
- Primarily remote working, with necessary travel agreed in advance.
- Potential for further assignments by mutual agreement. No minimum volume of work is guaranteed.
Apply with your CV and answer the short screening questions. No cover letter is needed. Shortlisted candidates will discuss relevant assignments, availability and rate with us. We will agree scope, working days and contract terms before work starts. Please do not include confidential client documents.
