Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a Trainee Laboratory Technician to join our team in Drury. You will help test construction materials in the lab and field, keep accurate records, and support quality outcomes that matter across our work.

It’s a great role for someone who learns quickly, and can keep a good pace

In this role, you will learn how to carry out testing on aggregates, soil, asphalt, and assist with environmental monitoring. You will work closely with experienced laboratory staff and be supported to develop strong technical and quality focused skills.

About the role

This is an entry level opportunity for someone keen to build a career in laboratory testing and the wider construction materials space. You will work across lab and field testing, support equipment checks and calibration activities, and help make sure our testing meets quality, safety, and compliance standards. Experience in a similar industry is preferred, but it’s not essential. If you’re switched on, reliable, and ready to learn, we’ll back you to grow.

What we need from you

  • Full class 1 licence.

  • Solid computer literacy.

  • A curious mindset and the ability to learn quickly in a hands on environment.

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records.

  • A team focused approach, sound initiative, and a good work pace.

  • Experience in a similar industry is preferred, but not essential.

Key responsibilities but not limited to

  • Carry out laboratory and field testing of construction materials to required standards.

  • Record sample and test data accurately, clearly, and on time.

  • Support equipment checks and monthly calibration tasks to keep the lab running well.

  • Follow health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements at all times.

  • Help maintain a tidy, safe, and well-organised laboratory and work area.
