Small Engine Mechanic Auckland

An established and busy outdoor power equipment dealership in Auckland is looking for a Small Engine Mechanic to join their high-performing team. This is your chance to step into a senior role where you’ll mentor others, tackle complex diagnostics, and work with premium equipment in a modern, well-equipped workshop.

About the Role
This is more than just turning spanners. As a senior technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping the workshop running smoothly while setting the standard for quality workmanship.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Diagnosing and repairing a wide range of outdoor power equipment
  • Working on everything from handheld tools to ride-on mowers
  • Handling advanced fault-finding and complex repairs
  • Supporting and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices
  • Assisting with workflow, job prioritisation, and workshop efficiency
  • Maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship
What’s in It for You
  • Competitive remuneration reflecting your experience and leadership - $35 - $39 per hour, dependant on skill level
  • Modern, purpose-built workshop with quality tools and equipment
  • Ongoing technical training and upskilling opportunities
  • Supportive, team-focused environment
  • Opportunities to step further into leadership over time
  • Stable, full-time permanent role working at least 40 hours per week with a reputable and growing business
What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who knows their way around an engine and enjoys solving problems others can’t.
  • Proven experience as a small engine mechanic or in a similar senior role
  • Trade qualification in a relevant field OR a minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience working with small engines
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Background in outdoor power equipment, automotive, motorcycles, or diesel
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members
  • High attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Good communication skills and customer awareness
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • NZ Drivers license or the ability to convert to a New Zealand licence

Why This Role?
If you’re ready to step up, share your knowledge, and work in a workshop that values skill over shortcuts, this is the opportunity to make your mark.
